Transformers New Toys] MPG "Trainbot Getsuei" In-Depth Review Part 1! Both the train form and the robot form are outstanding!
The most robot-loving voice actor in the voice acting industry, Taiyuki, plays around with the latest toys and hobbies that interest him in this popular series!
Yasuyuki Tai's Toys and Games Vol. 24 MPG "Trainbot Getsuei" Part 1
The release dates for reservations for the Takara Tomy "Transformers MPG" series are being announced one after another! The second in the series, "Cybertron/Night Combatant Trainbot Getsuei" has finally gone on sale!
With items like this, you can feel that the completion of "Ryden the Heavy Allied Warrior" is steadily approaching!
This time, Trainbot Getsuei is a warrior who transforms from an EF65 electric locomotive. As for me, I have a strong impression of this vehicle as a towing car for "Blue Train," but it is amazing that it is still pulling freight trains in service since its birth in 1965!
Like the previous "Shoki", this time, too, the reproduction of the vehicle form has been finished to a very high degree.
Let's start with the package.
Like the Shoki, the package is long and narrow. You can expect to see it in vehicle form.
On the front, "MPG" is printed in foil.
On the back of the package, the vehicle and the concept of this product are described.
The top surface has a cool, adult-like design. The bottom side contains information such as each cautionary note.
On the lid, you can see Getsuei in each state of the vehicle and robot.
Contents.
Getsuei itself, 2 conventional rails, pantograph, instruction manual and its supplement, character cards, weapons, and joints for attaching to the stand are included.
The two rails can be connected to each other.
The two rails can be connected, of course, to the rails included with the Shoki, but as mentioned earlier, the width of the rails is different.
The rails can of course be loaded with GETSUEI. The pantograph of metal parts is also attached. Although there are some split lines for deformation, at a glance it is hard to believe that this is a deformation toy. As much modeling as possible has been reproduced in this size. This is the front view.
Here is the appearance from the rear.
At a quick glance, the model is so precisely made that it is indistinguishable from a real model train.
Here is a side view. Even if it were said to be a model train, you would not be able to tell the difference. However, I am an amateur when it comes to railroads, so I would appreciate an explanation from those who are familiar with the subject in the comments section.
Front (left) and rear (right).
The ceiling has been reproduced in particular detail. The shape around the wheels is also very realistic.
The weapon "Night Laser" can be stored in the rear of the vehicle.
The joint for connecting the "Transformers Display Stand" can be attached to the bottom of the vehicle. The joints can be attached to the bottom of the vehicle, allowing you to recreate the airborne appearance of the Transformers as seen in the animated series.
The size comparison with the previously released Shoki is as shown below. The Shoki is quite large.
Since the vehicle form is very complete, let's take a closer look at the figure.
This time, it is not possible to seat the figure inside the driver's seat. The reason why the figure was put on the Shoki is probably because it was the first car when the six cars were combined.
But still, this is quite long when the six cars are connected!
Is it the air conditioning system? The number of air intake ports and rivets on the ceiling give it a great atmosphere.
The suspension around the wheels has also been sculpted. For a transforming toy, every possible detail has been applied.
Looking at it this way, it really looks like a model train!
Comparison with the Diaclone version!
This is the nostalgic Diaclone version of the "EF65 Blue Train. Despite the extremely abbreviated shape, you can still say, "It's a Blue Train! This one also captures the characteristics so well that you can say, "It's a Blue Train!
The rear part of the train is a little different from the actual train because it becomes the sole when it is transformed.
The rails were also included. The number of wheels is obviously not enough, but I still had the pleasure of placing it on the rails with metal wheels.
Size comparison with the MPG version "Getsuei" (right). The balance is quite good for the Diaclone version (left). Still, the MPG has an overwhelmingly model railroad feel to it.
The coupler can actually be connected to other cars and can be coupled with the Shoki. It is very well done!
There are no movable gimmicks in the vehicle form, so it's time to transform it into robot mode!
Transform!
Now the transformation you have been waiting for!
First, split the rear of the train into left and right sections. The panel on the conductor's seat is lifted up.
Fold a part of the rear of the car body to the underside and slide the exterior forward.
While also dividing the contents of the rear of the car body to the left and right, open the panel in the middle of the car body to form the waist side skirts.
The ankles are formed while the wheels are folded.
The wheels are slid in and stowed away, forming both legs.
With the outer body, wrap around the internal mechanical parts to wrap around the inner body, and both legs are complete.
Next comes the transformation of the upper body.
The ceiling panel is opened to form the chest. Inside it are packed the parts of both arms.
Turn to the rear side, fold the leading part of the vehicle to the rear and extend both arms.
Move both arms to the left and right and into position.
Open the back, raise the head of GETSUAY from the inside, and close the back.
At this point, the front of the vehicle should face the sky. This is the official appearance of the getsuei, although it would fit better if it were folded.
Slide the lower body forward at the waist to complete the transformation.
Let it hold the night laser, and Getsuei's robot mode is complete!
The body color is blue, as it was transformed from the Blue Train. As with all Trainbots, this clean silhouette looks very cohesive, and as a robot, it is very attractive.
That concludes the first part of this article! In the second part, we will review the robot form and transform it into a combined form!
