Final Fantasy XIV" by Square Enix won "BEST ONGOING GAME" and "BEST COMMUNITY SUPPORT," while "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" by Nintendo won "MOST ANTICIPATED GAME. At The Game Awards 2022, new information about games was announced in between the award ceremonies. The audience cheered loudly when a video of "Death Stranding 2" (tentative title), directed by Hideo Kojima, was shown.

The video was packed with descriptions that hinted at a new drama, including an aging Sam with gray hair, a giant submarine-like object surfacing from the water, and an organization that appears to be a new enemy.

When asked about the differences from the previous title, Kojima commented that he could not go into detail, but that he had included many surprising tricks. He also said that there are hints hidden in the trailer, and he hopes that everyone will use them to discuss the details.
