This time, the "Giant" robot, which is "Giant" from its name, is a kit in Good Smile Company's "MODEROID" series!

Although the robot has been made into a finished toy before, this is the first time it has been made into a plastic kit!

I had been thinking how large the prototype was when I saw it on display at an event, but the actual product was also very large!

Giant Robo" has been developed in various media such as manga, live-action, and anime, and this time it appears in the OVA "Giant Robo THE ANIMATION: The Day the Earth Stood Still". Many of you may have fallen in love with the unique head on the thick, strong body.

And above all, the characters in this work are all extraordinary people, and many of you may have a strong impression of them.

For now, I would like to introduce the "Giant Robot" kit, so we will talk about that some other time.

Now, let's take a look at the packaging. Let's take a look at the package first.

The giant body floating in the city at night is depicted with a big bang.

On the back is a description of the accessories. This time, Daisaku Kusama and Ginrin are included in the figure kit!

On the side, the word "GIANTROBO" appears on a background that continues from the illustration on the front!

On the lid and bottom, as usual, the illustrations are oriented for all display methods.

The runners are as you can see. Each one is large and can be assembled surprisingly quickly.

The only part of this kit that is not on a runner but in the small box included in the package is the skirt on the right side of the image. I was surprised to see only one part in this shape! I was surprised.

Also included are runners for Daisaku-kun and Ginrin-san, and water-transfer decals for their eyes and rose markings.

Each part is large, so it took surprisingly little time to assemble.

Here is the completed Giant Robo. The figure has been finished without any arrangement, and is firmly in the image of the original work. Note the riveted details on each part.

The exterior construction is very simple, and the time spent assembling it was very pleasant because it kept taking shape as it went along.

It carries an impressive rocket on its back. The exhaust-like parts extending from the center of the back are also very attractive, in a retro or steampunk way.

Painted parts are used for the head and neck. The eyes are water-transfer decals, but if you don't want to paint them, you can use a fine-tipped pen to draw in the black eyes. If you use a water-based pen, it is easy to wipe off and redo even if you fail to draw in the eyes.

The waist features an amazing one-part skirt. The cannon at the waist is fixed. I like the rivet detail.

What a simple and tough design of the legs!　But this is what makes the Giant Robot so powerful.

The shoulders are also flapped back and forth! Each of the parts are so huge that they can be combined to form this silhouette. We really did not want to divide the parts unnecessarily! You can sense the enthusiasm of the craftsmen.

The forearms are also huge! I wouldn't want to be punched by such an arm!

The back rocket is also huge, but has a simple silhouette. It is about as thick as a single dry cell battery (which we don't use much anymore in our homes).

The rocket's jet port is also simple, but has fine molding on the edge.

The movable range of the head. The head is connected to the body by ball joints, so you can move it around without interference.

Movable shoulder. The shoulders can swing up and down on the body side. The shoulder is connected to the shaft, so you can rotate it like the right arm and raise it to the top.

Horizontally, like the left arm, it can be lifted by the swing joint.

It is hard to tell because of the simple design, but it rolls and rotates at the base of the second arm and shoulder.

The elbows can be bent deeper than the design suggests thanks to the drawer parts.

The wrists are connected with rod joints.

Roll rotation at the waist.

The skirt can rotate at the connection between the skirt and the waist.

The left and right leg opening is about this much.

Legs closed is this much.

Front and back leg opening is this much.

Roll rotation at the connection between the thigh and hip joint.

The knees can also be bent deeper than expected, as can the elbows.

Ankles are connected with ball joints. Swing and rotation are possible.

The back rocket also has a movable connection to the main body and can tilt up to this level.

Both left and right wrists are included, as well as a flat hand.

This giant robot. When it is placed on a desk and looked up from a little below, it looks huge.

The joints are relatively stiff, so it can stand on one leg like this.

Reproduce flight using two of THE simple stands!

Joint holes are not provided, so the "C" shaped arms are used to grab both legs of the robot.

View from the bottom. Despite its simple structure, it is quite heavy, so you may want to tighten the screws on the stand a bit when displaying it with THE Simple Stand.

And speaking of Giant Robo, this gimmick. The deployment of the rocket bazooka can also be reproduced.

First, remove the rocket on the right side.

Deploy the removed rocket. Remove the lid from the tip and replace it with the bazooka's muzzle parts.

Also connect the fixed arm parts on the underside.

Connect additional parts to the base of the remaining rocket.

Remove the red part on the entire right shoulder and connect the arm part that supports the bazooka.

Attach the bazooka parts to complete the Giant Robo's rocket bazooka firing form. The rocket bazooka is a relatively simple and physically reasonable piece of equipment.

The back of the bazooka and the connecting arm are also well reproduced, albeit fixed.

A groove is also cut on the inside of the bazooka.

The robot supports the bazooka with its left hand and tries to finish off the opponent more reliably. The elbow joints bend well, allowing for poses such as this.

The rocket bazooka's ejection is also reproduced in a subtle manner.

In addition, a very small Daisaku-kun figure can be attached to the Giant Robo. Simply replace the golden ring on the robot's neck with the one with Daisaku-kun to complete the installation. Despite its extremely small size, the silhouette is recognizable as Daisaku-kun.

Furthermore, the figure kit of Daisaku Kusama as a stand-alone figure and the figure kit of

Ginrin-san's figure kit is included. Painting is required to reproduce the figure more realistically, but the most troublesome part of the eyes are provided with water-transfer decals, so you don't have to worry!

Plus one extra touch!

Giant Robo would look very nice with some damage or staining on the armor, but for this "plus one touch", I painted it like this since it is the Christmas season!

The big work "Distribute!　Giant Robots!"

So, Santa Claus color!　No, at first I was going to write an article on how to make the Giant Robot austere and powerful by applying normal weathering and so on, but then I saw it. Something about it just didn't work for my eyes.

But how do you like it?　Don't the proportions match quite well!

From the back, it looks like Santa Claus no matter how you look at it!

The paints I used this time were Modelkasten Fire Red for the red parts, Gaianotes EX White for the white, Gaianotes EX Black for the black, Gaianotes Eldoran Gold for the gold, and Gaianotes matte for the finish.

Only the face is left as in the kit. I prepared the muffler and beard by cutting Kimwipe with scissors. The head shape is also trapezoidal and somehow looked like a Santa hat.

The arms looked white and fluffy here, the wrists looked like gloves as they were, the middle of the waist looked like a belt buckle, and the skirt looked like a Santa costume!

Look at the legs, too!　There's an impression of these white bushy things, and the ankles are so simple that it looks as if they're wearing boots.

And this locket looks like a bag of presents on his back!

I thought, "Okay, that's it!" It didn't take me long to come up with the color scheme.

This kind of play is possible only with plastic kits. With finished toys, they are not designed to be disassembled, and you cannot paint them as you like.

When I painted and assembled it, the color scheme was so interesting that it became enjoyable.

This time, we decided to paint it like this because the time was just right, but of course we reserved another one to produce it in the orthodox style.
