Sumikko Gurashi the Movie: The Third Production is in the Works! Congratulatory illustrations by YOKOMIZO Yuri have arrived!

The third production of "Sumikko Gurashi the Movie" has been decided. A congratulatory illustration has arrived.

Sumikko Gurashi, a popular character with a slightly negative and surrealistic view of the world that is not only cute but also loved by children and adults alike, was born in 2012 with the keyword "Koko ga ochirutsu nondemo" (This place is calm), and this year marks its 10th anniversary.

In 2019, the first theatrical animation "Sumikko Gurashi the Movie: Sumikko Gurashi, the Storybook of Sumikko and Himitsuno no Ko" will be released. The film was a surprisingly family-friendly animated film that "made adults cry involuntarily," which ignited a fire mainly on social networking sites and drew 1.22 million viewers. The film won the Japan Film Critics Award for Best Animated Film, and was also screened overseas.

Last year, the second Sumikko Gurashi movie, "Sumikko Gurashi: Mahounoko on a Blue Moonlit Night," was released. The universal story of Sumikko Gurashi's "dream" drew 1.03 million viewers, making it the second consecutive "big hit" in the Sumikko Gurashi series to surpass 1 million viewers.

The third "Sumikko Gurashi the Movie" will be produced to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Sumikko Gurashi. A congratulatory illustration from the creator, Yuri Yokomizo, has arrived.

Sumikko and her friends look surprised but happy when they open a present box and out pops a "3". It is a warm illustration perfect for this time of year, just before Christmas.

The movie is scheduled to be released on the national road in 2023. Stay tuned for more information.
