Rohan Kishibe Goes to the Louvre" will be made into a movie! The first film by a Japanese manga artist! A joint project of the Louvre Museum [Special Video

The movie "Rohan Kishibe Goes to the Louvre," based on Hirohiko Araki's novel, will be on the road on May 26. A teaser visual, a special report, and comments were released.

"Kishibe Rohan ha Mukonen wa Mukonen", an anime by Hirohiko Araki, will be exclusively distributed on Netflix from February 18 (Thu.), 2021.1.15 ! (2021.1.15)

Kishibe Rohan ha Mukonunai" is a masterpiece spin-off from Hirohiko Araki's very popular comic "Jojo no Kimyona Bouken" (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure). Popular manga artist Rohan Kishibe, equipped with a special ability called "Heaven's Door," which allows him to turn opponents into books, read their backgrounds and secrets, and even write instructions in them, confronts bizarre incidents.

The drama adaptation, starring Issei Takahashi, will air for a third season from December 2020 to December 2022. Starting with the No. 1 trending position in the first broadcast, it also won the Galaxy Award for January 2021 <Monthly Award> in the TV category, and has been available on Amazon prime video since December 2022.

Now, a film adaptation of "Kishibe Rohan Goes to the Louvre" has been decided. The production team of the drama series will reunite to make a feature-length film.

A teaser visual and a super special video have been released!

Based on one of the episodes of "Kishibe Rohan wa Much Ado About Nothing," this is Hirohiko Araki's first full-color reading work, drawn in 2009 for the Bande dessinée project (Note 1) of the Louvre Museum in France. It was also the first time for a Japanese manga artist to have his work exhibited at the Louvre, which is arguably the world's most famous collection of ancient and modern beauty.

The teaser visual uses photos taken in Paris in between filming of the main story. It shows Rohan, played by Takahashi, standing on a Parisian street, with the words "Chasing the mystery of the 'blackest, most evil painting in the world' to the temple of beauty" attached to it. What is waiting for him beyond his gaze?

In the super special trailer, from the very beginning, it says, "Terrible things may happen." It is not good.... And it's chilling! Why are we in the underground warehouse of the Louvre? The familiar dialogue between Rohan and his editor Izumi, who announces that the Louvre has been chosen as the next location for an interview, is also present. The film foreshadows the opening of the suspense that will take viewers into the depths of the Louvre.

Special Feature Film

The story is set in the Louvre, a temple of beauty, and follows the mystery of "the blackest and most evil painting in the world" in an exquisite suspense. The story reveals the unknown roots of Rusuban, which have never been depicted in the previous "motionless" live-action series.

The basic structure of the stand-alone story is still intact, making it enjoyable even for those who are not familiar with the original work or the drama.

The cast and staff of the drama version have reunited!

The role of Rohan Kishibe, a manga artist overflowing with curiosity who values reality above all else, will be played by Issei Takahashi, who will continue in the role from the drama. A fan of the original work himself, Takahashi takes a versatile approach to the role, which he is so attached to that he openly admits that Rohan's words and actions have influenced his own outlook on life.

Kyoka Izumi, Rohan's editor, is played by Marie Iide, who plays the role of Rohan's buddy Kyoka and their exquisite dialogue is a continuation of her role in the drama. She plays a natural, fast-paced, unassuming, but somehow lovable character in this film as well.

The staff also continues to work on the drama. The director is Kazutaka Watanabe, who has worked with Ms. Takahashi on the historical drama "Onna Jôshu Naotora" (2017). The script is by Yasuko Kobayashi, who also wrote the script for the "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" anime series. Music is by Naruyoshi Kikuchi/New Music Production Studio, and character design supervision and costume design are by Isao Tsuge.

●Starring Issei Takahashi (playing Rohan Kishibe)
It has been three years since I have played the role of Rohan Kishibe.
It is a very unique event in my life that I have been able to continue playing Rohan Kishibe in this film, which is not titled a theater version or a movie version.

I am writing this comment at the site in Paris.
I am surrounded by a wonderful Japanese team that has been creating Rohan Kishibe since the first season of the drama. In addition, there is a Japanese film team, and in the last few days, a local French team that is so professional and sincere that you would think they have worked together on the first, second, and third seasons of the film, and I am witnessing the creation of a unique work of art.

During the filming of the first period, Kazuki, the director, and I were talking about "Kishibe Rohan Goes to the Louvre" as just a dream.
I thought it would be great if we could actually shoot in Paris someday.
And now, standing on the cobblestones of Paris as Rusan, I feel no sense of discomfort, no doubt because I am supported by the outstanding work of the crew. I am truly grateful to be able to stay as Rosan in a foreign country as I have always been.

Not only the French part that we are shooting now, but also the Japanese part that we have already finished shooting is an important part of the whole film.
In all of JoJo's works, the bloodline, the inheritance, and the past are also important elements that will be discussed in this film.
Confronting these elements is the key to being present in the present.
Time can be both kind and cruel to everyone, but without exception, it also questions the existence of Russo in this work.

This work is a continuation of the live-action drama series "Kishibe Rohan ha Mukonen wa Mukonen" and is the ninth story in the series. This film can be enjoyed not only by those who have seen the drama series, but also by those who are unfamiliar with Rohan's footsteps up to this point.

I hope that everyone who comes to the theater will enjoy this very unique (strange, singular, one-of-a-kind) work.

Marie Iide (Kyoka Izumi)
The third season of "Kishibe Rohan ha Mukonen wa Mukonen" has just finished airing...
In fact, filming for the movie was also secretly in progress!
The last part of this season's drama, as I said in my dialogue...
Rohan-sensei finally went to the Louvre!
I was also able to go to Paris as the editor in charge!
Once again, I will be supported by my usual wonderful team and joined by a new staff member,
I am very happy to be able to work on the play under such a wonderful and encouraging environment,
I am truly grateful for the opportunity to work on the play!
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart!
During the filming with the local staff in France, we had a lot of fun.
I was so happy that we were able to overcome the language barrier and create a work on a large scale.
It will be an unforgettable experience.
I am very happy to be able to add another new episode to a work that everyone has been looking forward to for so long!
I am very happy!
Rohan-sensei and Kyoka face the past and the mysteries hidden in the Louvre, far away from home!
We hope you will enjoy it as much as ever!

Director: Kazutaka Watanabe
The Paris depicted in the film "Assassination Forest" is decadent and gloomy. Since the project began three years ago, the visual look, art setting, and costuming of "Kishibe Rohan ha Much Ado About Nothing" have always been greatly inspired by this film, both tangible and intangible.
When we visited Paris for the filming of "Assassination Forest," it was a beautiful but cold world covered with thick and heavy clouds that looked as if they would fall at any moment, and freezing rain kept falling.
There, Rohan Kishibe is standing now.
A strange feeling of deja vu mixed with a sense of elation. But there is no sentimentality.
Rohan is there as a matter of course. The shooting begins as usual.

Script by Yasuko Kobayashi
When I first heard about the live-action adaptation of "Kishibe Rohan ha Mukonen wa Mukonen", I had not a shred of imagination that it would become a movie. Also, "Going to the Louvre" was never included in the list of candidates for the original work that we had all been listing each time the series was repeated. Such a double reality story is realized. It is a story that unusually focuses on Rohan himself. I hope you will enjoy it at the movie theater.

The original text, including the line breaks, is in Japanese.
