People thrive in a world where "Giant Beasts" are prevalent. The story begins when "Jiro, a mortal," meets "Kuumi, the twenty-second one," who is being chased by something, and the story begins to move.

＜Synopsis.

--Nagimori and Kannagi. That is the truth of the world.
Kuumi and Jiiro combine by signing a contract. Giiro, who has become Kuumi's nagimori, uses his mighty power to defeat the giant beast. After the union is completed, Kuumi learns that he is a powerful being known as a kannagi. Kannagi's power is so great that it can annihilate a town. He is told that a warrior called "nagimori" acts as a "vessel" to prevent the power of kannagi from going out of control.
Jiro, a retired nagimori, grudgingly accepts the role of amulet, but the two are confronted by pursuers from the empire in search of Kuumi.
