TV anime adaptation of "Wakakunin the Runaway" by Yuuki Matsui of "Assassination Classroom" is coming! CloverWorks takes on a story that begins with the fall of the Kamakura Shogunate.

Wakakun on the Run" serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" will be adapted into a TV anime. A teaser PV and comments have been released.

Wakakun the Runaway" is serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" by Matsui Masayuki of "Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro" and "Assassination Classroom". It is a historical spectacle manga in which Tokiyuki Hojo, a survivor of the Hojo family, runs through a turbulent world after the fall of the Kamakura shogunate.

Now that the series has reached its second anniversary, a TV anime adaptation has been decided. A teaser visual, teaser PV, and staff comments have been released.

CloverWorks, which has produced "SPY×FAMILY" and other works, will be in charge of animation production. The director is Yuta Yamazaki, who worked as the assistant director of "Wonder Egg Priority," the series composition is by Yoriko Tomita, who worked on "That dress-up doll will fall in love," and the character design is by Yasushi Nishitani, who worked as the chief animator of "Pokémon Coco the Movie. The film spins a slice of history with beautiful and powerful images.

In 1333 A.D., the Kamakura shogunate, which had established the foundation of samurai rule in Japan, is destroyed by the rebellion of Ashikaga Takauji, a trusted retainer of the shogunate. Having lost everything, the shogunate's legitimate successor, Hojo Tokiyuki, is thrown into the depths of despair and escapes from the burning city of Kamakura under the guidance of a priest, Suwa Yorishige, who claims to be a god.... In Suwa, Tokiyuki meets a trustworthy friend and gathers strength to retake Kamakura. Tokiyuki overcomes the great swell of the changing times by "fleeing" and "living" as opposed to the way of life of a samurai who "fights" and "dies".
Tokiyuki's game of tag to regain control of the country unfolds in a turbulent world crowded with heroes.
