TV anime "Rurouni Kenshin - Meiji Swordsman Romantic Tan" will start airing in July 2023!

The broadcast schedule and teaser visual for the TV anime "Rurouni Kenshin - Meiji Swordsman Romantic Tan" have been released.

Rurouni Kenshin" was serialized by Nobuhiro Watsuki in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 1994, and became a TV anime in 1996. The live-action movie became a blockbuster hit, grossing over 19.3 billion yen, and a sequel, "Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Tan - Hokkaido Arc," is currently being serialized in "JUMP SQ.

Such a milestone of action period drama will be revived as a new TV anime "Rurouni Kenshin - Meiji Swordsman Romantic Tan", which reconstructs the original story from the first episode with the latest animation technology!

It was announced at Fuji Television's Anime Lineup Presentation 2023 on March 22 (Wed.) that it will begin airing on Fuji Television's "Noitamina" and other channels in July 2023.

<Introduction
The legendary masterpiece "Rurouni Kenshin - Meiji Swordsman Romantic Tan", which has sold a total of 72 million copies of comic books and earned 19.3 billion yen at the box office, will be revived as a new TV animation series in 2023.

The original story by Nobuhiro Watsuki was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" in 1994, and was adapted into the first TV anime in 1996. After numerous other developments including OVAs and theater movies, "Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story - Hokkaido Arc" is currently being serialized in "JUMP SQ.

This latest work is a reconstruction of the original story from the first episode using the latest animation technology, aiming to create an anime "Rurouni Kenshin" that will appeal to current anime fans as well.

The production team includes director Hideyo Yamamoto ("Strike the Blood"), series composition by Hideyuki Kurata ("Made in Abyss"), and other talented staff members. The cast has been completely renewed, including Souma Saito as Kenshin Himura. In addition, Nobuhiro Watsuki, the author of the original story, will supervise the character design, scenario, and all other aspects of the film.

Rurouni Kenshin - Meiji Swordsman Romantic Tan" is a milestone in the action period drama genre.
It was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 1994 to 1999, and was adapted into the first TV anime in 1996, followed by a movie version in 1997. Three more OVAs were released after 1999, resulting in five anime adaptations.
A sequel, "Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story - Hokkaido Arc," is currently serialized in "JUMP SQUARE" (Shueisha).
