Monozukuri action "Terraria" for Switch is released today! Includes many additional elements including major update Ver. 1.3

Terraria (Re-Logic/Pipeworks), a monozukuri action adventure for Nintendo Switch, was released today, Thursday, December 19, 2019. The game is sold by Spike Chunsoft. Both the packaged and downloadable versions are priced at 3,800 yen (excluding tax).

Touted as a "monozukuri action adventure," "Terraria" features an overwhelming degree of freedom. In a world where everything is made up of blocks, players can construct buildings, dig underground, explore dungeons, and do a great variety of other things. The game was first released as a PC game in 2011, followed by a port to PS3 in 2013. The game has a long history of releases on many other consoles, including PS4, Nintendo 3DS, and iOS/Android.

The Switch version includes the major update Ver. 1.3 applied to the PC version. It adds new NPCs, more than 3,500 items, and more than 300 enemy characters. It also includes an "Advanced Mode" in which enemies that are stronger than usual appear, catering to skilled players who are not satisfied with the usual difficulty level. The game also includes a wide variety of other features.

For more information on the game, check out the following link, which also includes information on the game's live game show, scheduled to be held three times starting on December 20, 2019 (Friday).

■Various actions added to NPCs

In "Terraria", NPCs with special roles, such as "Shonin" who sells items and "Nurse" who restores your health, can live in the house you create. The new version 1.3 update adds new NPC actions and animations, making life more lively and enjoyable.

Talking!

NPCs can be seen conversing with each other through speech balloons. NPCs can be seen talking to each other through speech balloons, and there are many topics of conversation, such as about other NPCs, money, monsters, etc. You can even play rock-paper-scissors.

Sitting!

Animations of sitting on chairs have been added, giving them a more lived-in feel. Toilets are also classified as chairs, so they sit firmly.

Fighting!

NPCs will join in the battle with weapons and magic according to their occupations to help players.

Other additions and changes

Shopping, crafting, and item organization are now more convenient!

Funds stored in piggy banks and safes can be used for shopping. This is a convenient feature that eliminates the disadvantage of losing some of the money you have when players are knocked down. In addition, a "grouping" feature has been implemented for items on hand and the same items in nearby boxes. Even if you have been storing items in separate boxes for each item, you can now store your items in separate boxes in an instant.

The ability to act while riding a mount!

You can wield weapons and fish while riding your mount (a mountable creature). In a large area, you can live your life while riding a mount at any time.

New items have been added to expand the range of tricks you can create!

A new item, "Logical Gate Lamp," has been added to the items list, allowing users to create traps using wires. The "Logic Gate Lamp" is an item that sends an ON/OFF signal to an object when input signals from multiple switches match a condition. This item can be used to create more complex devices, such as a hidden passageway that opens only when two switches are turned on.

Advanced Mode" for higher levels of difficulty

The newly added "Advanced Mode" offers more challenging gameplay than the normal mode, with stronger enemies and various adjustments. It is recommended for multiplayer and for those who find that the enemies are not strong enough in the normal mode. In "Advanced Mode," players can obtain accessories that are limited to boss drops and are unique in both appearance and effect. You can use characters developed in the normal mode in the advanced mode, or bring limited items obtained in the advanced mode to the normal mode for use in the advanced mode.

Main features of the advanced mode

Monsters: Attacks with abnormal effects and monsters with different AI from those in the normal mode. When entering Hard Mode (after defeating Wall of Flesh), the status of weaker enemies will be enhanced according to the player's progress.
Bosses: Bosses' stats increase with the number of players in multiplayer. Extended the amount of time it takes for a player to be revived when defeated by a boss.
Players: Increased amount of money dropped when defeated. Monsters around the player may pick up the money dropped by the player. The player can get it back by defeating the target enemy.
Items: Can only be obtained from bosses in the advanced mode. New accessories only available in the advanced mode.
