GRIDMAN", which was born from the special effects "Denko Choujin Gridman", leads to the sequel "SSSS.DYNAZENON", and its world develops into the theatrical version "Gridman Universe", which crossovers the two works.
Director Tetsu Amemiya and the staff and cast of the TV series have come together to discuss the new film with Yuya Hirose, who plays Yuta Hibiki in "SSSS.

I was so focused on this work that it made me grow up.
--First of all, could you tell us how you felt when you heard about the film adaptation?
Hirose: It is one of the most important works for me as it is my first film as a leading actor. I was very happy to hear that it would return as a movie along with "SSSS.DYNAZENON. I think the same thing happened to the fans who saw the film, but as a fan, I was genuinely happy to be able to see the world of "SSSS.
Enoki: That's right. GRIDMAN" and "SSSS. DYNAZENON" were combined this time, so I was most excited to be able to work together with the cast members who had not worked together before.
Yuya Hirose as Yuta Hibiki
--What did you have in mind when you were dubbing?
Enoki: Even in the TV series, there was not much direction. It was more like I was left to my own devices. ......, yes. So, I didn't think too much about it. I just went into the studio and responded to what I was told to do.
Hirose: I was rarely told what to do. We didn't repeat retakes many times. ......
Enoki: It was more like a one-shot recording.
Hirose But this time, I was told that it was "hard. ......
Enoki: You were told that?
Hirose: Yes. We had to retake the first and second words. I made a mistake (laughs). GRIDMAN" helped me grow as a person, so I was conscious of my own performance, trying to make sure it was solid. So at first, I think the director pointed out to me, "Aren't you putting in a little too much effort? There were things I could do in the TV series that I couldn't do, and things I couldn't do in the TV series that I couldn't do. But the staff was able to work out a schedule that allowed us to work well together, and we were able to record together, even in these times (of the Corona disaster). (It has been four or five years since the TV series was recorded, but I had the feeling that if everyone was together, we could go back to that time in an instant. By listening to everyone's performances, I was able to eliminate the strange "this way" and "that way" that I had been thinking about, and I was able to go with the flow.
Junya Enoki as Yomogi Asanaka
--What was the most memorable thing about working on the recording together with everyone?
Hirose: Mr. Hamano (Daiki), who is my senior at the office, played the role of Rex this time. ......
--He played the role of Gauma in "SSSS.DYNAZENON".
Hirose: In "SSSS.GRIDMAN" I was able to drink quite a bit, but in "SSSS.DYNAZENON" I heard that you were not able to drink. DYNAZENON". He thought he could this time, but he couldn't, which was very frustrating for him (laughs). He said he wanted to have a good time with the "SSSS.DYNAZENON" team. However, as I mentioned earlier, we were able to record together.
Enoki: You were able to record a lot of the main characters, right?
Hirose That's right. So I had the feeling that all my relatives were involved in the "Gridman Universe". Of course, there were people I had met on other sets, but we all had the same feelings toward the work and the way we were acting, so it gave me a sense of security and warmth that we were all looking in the same direction.
Enoki: That's right. This may be similar to my previous answer, but as I had imagined, it was a big deal to be able to record with cast members I had not recorded with before. But you and Hirose-kun were not in the same booth, were you?
Hirose: We may not have been in the same booth.
Enoki: It was a little disappointing because we only heard the voice over the radio, but I was able to work in the same booth with Miyamoto-san, who played Rokka (Houta). That was probably the most important part. I remember that it was fun to be able to record with her.
I want you to experience the all-star feeling of all the stars appearing in the film.
--Through the movie version, what kind of characters did you feel the roles you played in the movie were?
Enoki: What kind of character is ....... I don't think about that too much. I was just doing my lines in a straightforward way. I always think about why I'm saying what I'm saying, but I don't really think about what kind of character I am. I think it is important to think about what kind of character you are creating when you deform a character. DYNAZENON" was a non-deformed work, so I felt it was better not to think about it too much.
Hirose The same is true for me. Moreover, Yuta had amnesia, right? Not only me, but nobody knew about Yuta. So I didn't think about it much. I think it changed depending on the flow of the story and the interactions with the other characters. It seems that Yomogi and Yuta came up with their answers through conversations with Mumei (Minami), Rokka, and others. We weren't told what was going to happen next. I didn't do much V-checking, but I was conscious of the fact that I was exploring the story with Yuta in the same way he was. ......Well, rather than being conscious of it, I had no choice but to do it that way. I was not able to do anything even after reading the script, so I thought, "I have no choice but to go into the recording with the same feeling as Yuta.
--So you were able to get into it well.
Hirose: I think this is probably something I've been talking about since the audition, but I think it was natural. Of course, it is a question of "what is natural? Of course, it's a bit like asking, "What is natural?" But even though it is a mysterious world where monsters appear and people fight the monsters (......), I think the director was looking for a natural feeling that the people living in the world would naturally give off. So, I have a feeling that if the TV series were to be dubbed again, it would probably take a completely different form. The nuances were different between the test and the actual recording, and the director picked up on that quite a bit.
Enoki That's right.
Hirose: "Oh, that's good, isn't it? He was interested in what was created at that time.
--Hirose: I heard that you checked everything from the tests and selected the takes to be used in the film version.
Hirose I see.
Enoki Wow.
Hirose I didn't know that. As expected, I don't think there are any scenes where someone else did the voice (laughs).
(laughs) -- Did you have other voice actors say the lines? (laughs).
Hirose: I'll use this person's take (laughs). (Laughs.) I don't think so, but it is true that sometimes I get tense in the test and then get tense in the performance.
--How did you see each other's characters?
Hirose: I noticed when we were playing with each other in the "Gridman Universe" that Yuta and Rokka (Yuta and Rokka) were more flirtatious, while Yomogi and Yume are strangely calm in their performances. DYNAZENON" seemed to be more senior than "SSSS.DYNAZENON," even though they are the same two tied together. It was partly because the story was more mature, focusing on the heavier aspects of the story. Overall, they were calmer. (Koyomi is an adult, but so is Chise (Asukagawa), who is also a junior high school student.
Enoki: Really? Surprisingly, once I met them, I had a sense that we were the same age. But it's true that romantically, this one might be more advanced. I thought, "Yuta and Rokka have a long way to go.
Hirose (laughs). But as you can see in the trailer, what will happen between Yuta and Rokka is one of the highlights of the film.
--The trailer starts with Yuta saying, "I'm going to confess my feelings to Rokka. Now that you mentioned the highlights, can you tell us about the unique appeal of the movie version?
Hirose: For me, I think it's the fact that we get to see Yuta's story. After the TV series, in which he had fought through the battle with Gridman in his body, in this movie he is living as Yuta after the Gridman has left him. Whether it is a confession or a battle, I believe that his character will be clearly expressed in what he chooses to do. From my point of view, Yuta is a hero, and I am looking forward to seeing how everyone will feel about that. Also, of course, the title is "Gridman Universe," so I think one of the highlights will be how he interacts with the "SSSS.DYNAZENON" team and how their worldviews intersect.
Enoki: That's right. After all, even looking at the cast list, I could sense that everyone is making an appearance. So I hope the audience will enjoy the all-star feeling of having all the stars in one place at once. Characters who have not been connected to each other will be intertwined, and each one of them will have his or her own highlights. I hope that you will enjoy the interactions between the characters as they cross paths.
