Anisama 15th year anniversary project! Anisama Playback! The 7th "Animelo Summer Live 2011 -rainbow-" Anime songs that gave us the courage to overcome the disaster and get back on our feet!
Animelo Summer Live" (hereafter, "Anisama"), the world's largest anime song event that brings together the top artists in the anime song world, will celebrate its 15th anniversary this summer with "Animelo Summer Live 2019 -STORY-" (hereafter, "Anisama 2019").
To commemorate this anniversary year of Anisama, Akiba Research Institute takes a year-by-year playback of past Anisamas!
Let's hear from anime and anime song writers who participated in the Anisama back then, as well as their memories, and get excited about Anisama 2019, which will be held over the three days of August 30, 31, and September 1, 2019!
So, the 7th edition is "Animelo Summer Live 2011 -rainbow-", which was held amidst the unprecedented disaster that shook the whole of Japan.
In this installment, Atsushi Saeki, a writer who witnessed the event on stage at the "Anisama" venue, looks back on the two days, sharing his own experiences and feelings.
Animelo Summer Live 2011 -rainbow-
Date: August 27 and 28, 2011
Venue: Saitama Super Arena (stadium mode)
Theme song: "rainbow" lyrics and music by Chiyomaru Shikura, arrangement by Masaki Mashita
The year 2011 was a major turning point for the country of Japan. The reason for this was the "Great East Japan Earthquake.
It was early afternoon on March 11. In the Media Plus Hall on the 12th floor of Bunka Hoso, a press conference was being held, attended by the artists who would perform at "Anisama 2011. Today, Anisama is open to the general public as well as the mass media, but at the time, I remember that only media representatives were allowed to attend the press conference.
To tell a personal episode, I encountered the earthquake on my way back to the editorial office where I was working at the time, after I had finished my coverage. A crack appeared between a building and the road, and the surrounding buildings shook violently. I remember holding my head and bending down to protect myself from the falling debris, and feeling a sense of resignation that I was probably going to die.
As a result, I later succeeded in getting in touch with someone from the editorial office without incident. However, my workplace was in such a terrible state that I could not work at all. Fortunately, there was a large evacuation center in the neighborhood, so my safety against secondary disasters was mostly secured, but even so, I spent some really anxious time until I could confirm the safety of my family.
Naturally, there was uncertainty as to whether or not Anisama 2011 would be held, and I wondered what would happen to the entertainment industry in the future. I spent my days wondering "What will happen to the entertainment industry in the future?
However, it was later decided that "Anisama 2011" would be held as planned. Mini events on the Keyaki-hiroba stage and
Although related events such as a mini event at the Keyaki Hiroba stage and "Anisama Week" had to be postponed due to power restrictions at the time, many anime fans must have felt a sense of relief.
It is not difficult to imagine the countless conflicts and discussions that took place in the various parties involved before this decision was made. However, overcoming various problems and challenges, "Anisama 2011" was held. The title "rainbow" was probably chosen to reflect the theme of Anisama since its inception: "We want to be a bridge between artists and fans, and between artists," and also because it was the seventh Anisama and there were "seven-color rainbows. Looking back on it now, however, I think it was a big title that contained a great many thoughts, messages, and wishes.
The two legends of the anime song world, Isao Sasaki and Ichiro Mizuki, who appeared on the first day of the festival, are symbolic of this.
Isao Sasaki performed "Space Battleship Yamato" and "Galaxy Express 999," while Ichiro Mizuki performed "Mazinger Z" and "Con Battler V Theme. These two songs are masterpieces in the history of anime songs, both about heroes fighting to protect their loved ones and the earth. Their powerful voices must have inspired the hearts of those who were hurting, lost, and vulnerable. It was a moment that showed us the primitive power of anime songs in the most obvious way.
From the stage, Mr. Mizuki, or "Aniki," exhorted the audience, "Please cheer up Japan and spread ani-song to the world! he exhorted the audience. The audience did not say much, but everyone applauded and cheered for both singers, who demonstrated the significance and power of ani-song through their songs and way of life.
In contrast to these great seniors, it was the new faces on the cutting edge of anime songs who enlivened the venue on the first day with their fresh charm.
WAV, and has been involved in the creation of songs for Haruko Momoi and MOSAIC.WAV, as well as many anime songs and game songs. The main cast of the "YuruYuri" anime "Nanamorichu☆Goraku-bu" and Natsuko Aso, who performed for the first time, graced the first half of the first day of the event.
Hyada-in, an artist of the new generation who has been gaining support and recognition from Internet users mainly through his contributions on the video distribution site "Nico Nico Douga," performed "Hyada-in no Kakakata Kataomoi-C" and "Hyada-in no Jyo-Jyo-Yoo-Jyo," the OP themes of the anime "Everyday Life," as well as "The The winner of the "3rd All Japan Anime Song Grand Prix," anime song singer Sasaki Saka sang the songs.
The idol group Momoiro Clover Z was a unique performer. They sang "Z Densetsu ~Endless Revolution~" featuring Ichiro Mizuki's "Zeet" call. Mr. Mizuki appeared at the end of the song, and the entire audience chanted "Zeet" in unison, adding to the excitement.
This is another example of how anime songs have broken out of the "anisong village" and permeated the world as pop culture. This is another example of how anime songs have broken out of the "anisong village" and penetrated the pop culture scene, proving that the power of anime songs transcends generations and even musical genres.
The first day of "Anisama 2011" brought together artists of various origins and profiles to perform both old and new anime songs. This evoked the image of a big rainbow bridge of anime songs from the past to the future.
The climax of the first day was JAM Project. One of the members, Masaaki Endo, is from Ishinomaki City in Miyagi Prefecture, a city that was severely damaged by the earthquake and tsunami. When he held a charity live concert in the disaster-stricken area, many people told him, "I'll definitely go to Anisama! He also called out to the audience, "Let's sing together! and the audience sang "GONG" in chorus. The song sounded like a requiem for those who have passed away and a cheering song for those who live today and hope for the future.
Anime songs have a power that transcends time and genre. If the first day's songs were about hope for the future, the second day's setlist showed the underlying power of ani-song to break through the "status quo.
Anime "Ro-Kyu-Bu! The main cast of "RO-KYU-BU!" and "Milky Holmes," which appeared in the previous year's program, were featured in the beginning of the program, while many voice actors and artists sang songs from the hottest and newest anime, including Maon Kurosaki, Mamoru Miyano, Kanako Ito, Phantasm (FES cv. Yui Sakakibara), surprise guest T.M. Revolution, and special guest Kalafina. Revolution, and special guest Kalafina, many voice actors and artists who sang songs from the latest anime and popular works made a big impact at the Saitama Super Arena with songs that represent the anime song scene in 2011.
Following the previous year's collaboration between Yukari Tamura and MOTSU, "ALTIMA," a special unit from Anisama 2011, was born at Anisama 2011. This unit, consisting of SAT (Satoshi Yaginuma) of fripSide, MOTSU (motsu) of m.o.v.e., and MAON (Maon Kurosaki), was originally formed when MOTSU invited SAT to join them at "Anisama 2010". The unit has been active since then until 2016.
The unit remained active until 2016. They chose the stage of "Anisama 2016" as their last stage, and became an unforgettable unit that started and ended with Anisama.
Amidst all of this, the stage that in many ways created a buzz was that of "Kamattechan Erio," a unique collaborative unit consisting of the rock band "Sacred Kamattechan" and Asuka Ohkame, who plays the heroine Erio in the anime "Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko" (Radio Women and Blue Men). Sacred Kamattechan is often controversial for its eccentric performances and sometimes offensive behavior by vocalist and guitarist "Noko," but on the other hand, the group has received high praise from artists and creators alike, including a documentary film made about the group. On the other hand, a documentary film about them was produced, and they were highly regarded by artists and creators. In addition, their use of video distribution services and social networking services for promotion has attracted attention, and they are truly the poster child of the Internet age.
Their stage performance was also shocking. With the theme from "The Godfather" playing in the background, Mr. Noko wobbled onto the stage astride a modified bicycle, which also appeared in the anime. Then, Mr. Ohkame appeared with a futon wrapped around his body (Erio's formal attire in the anime)! They may have been the first artists in the history of "Anisama" to faithfully reproduce the world of the anime. Their outrageous performance left a huge mark on "Anisama" and the world of ani-song.
The last performer of the second day was Nana Mizuki. She performed "ETERNAL BLAZE" in collaboration with Masaaki Endo of JAM Project, who performed on two consecutive days. The song, which is an anthem representing Mizuki's, and indeed all anime songs since the zero's, was sung as a duet with Endo, who has one of the most powerful voices of his generation. This was another miraculous stage connected by anime songs. The countless pillars of flame and the glow of the ultra-orange psyllium that filled the stage. It was truly a sparkle of the souls of the anime song lovers who had gathered at the venue.
It was as if a rainbow bridge of anime songs had been built between the stage and the audience, and everyone was moved by the warmth of this spectacle.
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks and admiration to "Anisama," which dared to create a dramatic stage as usual, or even more so than usual, amidst the mood of self-restraint. I am sure that there were many people who were given a strong push toward the future by seeing "Anisama 2011," which was created without wavering and with a courageous decision.
I am one of them. It is precisely in this "now" that we can do something about entertainment. It was during these two days that I received such encouraging messages and encouragement.
