To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the video label EMOTION, a Blu-ray Disc set containing the two theatrical versions of "Patlabor" will be released on August 10, 2023. The price is 8,910 yen (tax included).

Mobile Police Patlabor" was first released as an original animated video series on April 25, 1988. The series, consisting of six episodes, was created by "Head Gear," a group of five creators: manga artist Masami Yuki, screenwriter Kazunori Ito, mechanical designer Yutaka Izubuchi, character designer Akemi Takada, and director Mamoru Oshii.

The setting is Tokyo at the end of the 20th century. In this world, robots of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department with cherry blossom crests shining on their chests walk around the city. The series has been a hit in OVA, film, comic, and TV animation, and continues to be loved by many fans even today, when the real world has overtaken the time axis of the animation world.
