Transformers New Toys] MPG "Trainbot Yukikaze" In-Depth Review Part 1! Both the train form and robot form are outstanding!

The most robot-loving voice actor in the voice acting industry, Taiyuki, plays around with the latest toys and hobbies that interest him in this popular series!

Yasuyuki's Toys and Games Vol. 29 MPG "Trainbot Yukikaze" Part 1

A few months after the release of Trainbot Shoki, Takara Tomy's top Transformers brand "MPG" series, the third installment of the Raiden Project has finally arrived!

Introduced this time is the Cybertronian heavy snow fighter Yukikaze, which transforms from a 200 series Shinkansen to a robot.

Shoki was also a warrior who transformed into a Series 0 Shinkansen, and the detailed differences between the two vehicles have been well reproduced.

Let's take a look at MPG's attention to detail and compare it with the Diaclone version of the Train Robot Tohoku and Joetsu Shinkansen.

The packaging is the same as previous Trainbot models, with a horizontal design that makes you think, "Is this a model train? The design on the back is of a 200 series Shinkansen bullet train. The back of the package is filled with details about the product, including an explanation of the 200 Series Shinkansen bullet train!

On the lid, there are photos of the robot mode and vehicle mode.

On the top, the words "TRANSFORMERS MPG" are stamped in foil. On the bottom, there are some notes about the product.

First, let's take a look at the main unit and its accessories. In addition to the main body of Yukikaze, there is Raiden's head, a weapon (snow laser), display joint parts, and connectable rail parts A and B.

And as for the paperwork, in addition to the instruction manual and bio card, a booklet called "MPG Trainbot Raiden Book" is included this time. I can't wait to see the six of them together.

First up is the Shinkansen mode. The snow plows at the end of the train and the sides of the train body extending all the way to the bottom are distinctive features.

Clear parts are used for the passenger windows. It is very Transformer-like to be able to see the parts inside.

Compared with the Diaclone version (right side) from the front. Although the size is different, you can see that the Diaclone version also picked up the features of the Series 200 Shinkansen well, in its own way.

The MPG version has been reproduced well, even the rivets and lights have been reproduced.

Comparison of the rear part. The doors between the cars are well painted. You can also see the coupler under it.

The Diaclone version is flat without any particular modeling since this surface will be the sole of the foot when in robot mode.

Comparison of the two sides of the car: the MPG version has well sculpted doors to the passenger seats and the driver's seat. Although the Diaclone version has fewer windows, it is clear that the features of the 200 Series were reproduced in many places.

Although the items are targeted at different age groups, you can feel the attention to detail of each.

The ceiling. You can see similarities between the old and new items, such as the round slit in the front part of the car body. The rear of the Diaclone version has been rearranged to include the design of the legs in robot mode, but the MPG version reproduces the details of the actual vehicle.

Close-up of the round slit part; the high level of reproduction of the MPG version goes without saying, but can you also feel the effort of the Diaclone version?

The image of the Diaclone version is enlarged and placed side by side with the MPG version. Although there are differences in length, it is interesting to note that many features typical of the Tohoku and Joetsu Shinkansen, such as snow plows, can be found on both versions.

The rails can be connected and the Yukikaze can be placed on top for display. It may be displayed as a "model railroad" in this state.

Comparison with its sibling Shoki's Series 0 Shinkansen mode. Many people who are not familiar with trains may have only recognized that the main colors are different, but by comparing them side by side, you can notice the detailed differences.

There are also differences in the design around the doors between the vehicles.

Since the transformation mechanism to robot mode is very different, the parts configuration when viewed from the bottom is also different.

Raiden's head can be mounted on the Yukikaze in each mode. Let's start with how to mount it in vehicle mode. Transform the head parts to make it compact.

Expand the rear of the vehicle and connect Raiden head to the wheel parts.

Close it as the original, you can perfectly store Raiden head.

Let's compare the old and new versions of the Snow Laser weapon as well. The silhouette and modeling are impressive, as if the Diaclone version was made in high detail and enlarged.

The snow laser can be mounted on the bottom of the body. Also, stand joint parts can be connected behind it. The optional "TF Power Base" can be used to display the model in a flying state.

The figure is shown here side by side with the previously released Trainbot Shoki (center) and Getsuei (left). They really do look like they belong to the Trainbot series. The proportions of the size of the cars are also in line with those of the actual cars, as is typical of MPG.

Now that we've shown you the vehicle in vehicle form, let's transform it into robot mode!

However, as you would expect from an MPG, showing you the entire transformation procedure would take an unbelievable number of pictures, so we will just pick out a few to show you.

Transform!

Before transforming, remove the heads of Snow Laser and Raiden.

Deploy each panel of the front part of the vehicle. Deploy the rear part of the vehicle body to the left and right.

Fold down the ceiling panel and deploy both arms from the underside of the vehicle body.

Open the panel on the driver's ceiling to form the chest of the Yukikaze. The panels that were spread on both sides of the vehicle body are attached to both arms.

The panels at the rear of the vehicle body are also deployed.

The nose section of the vehicle is folded under the vehicle body and rotated so that the nose faces forward again to form the backpack.

Four thrusters are deployed on that backpack. The thrusters on the left side of the photo are in the deployed state.

The transformation of the rear of the vehicle is a little difficult to explain in text: ....... Fold the wheels and other parts.

Fold the rear part of the body, which transforms into the legs, so that it is about half the length of the body.

Fold the exterior of the body so that it wraps around the internal parts, and unfold the shin parts.

So, although I skipped a lot of steps, this is the robot mode of Yukikaze. The shoulder panels are a characteristic of Trainbot's robots in charge of the legs. I never thought that the 200 Series Shinkansen, which had a simple silhouette, would transform into such a stylized robot mode. ......

That's it for the first part of the article! In the second part, I will review the robot form and transform it into the combined form!
