Kadokawa Games will release "Root Film," an authentic mystery ADV set in Shimane, on PS4/Switch next April! Pre-order starts on 12/25!

Kadokawa Games, Inc. will release "Root Film," the latest Kadokawa Game Mystery game, on April 23, 2020.

Root Film" is an authentic mystery adventure game set in Shimane, Japan. It is a huge game that takes more than 15 hours to complete, which is unusual for an adventure game. The story follows two main characters, Yakumo and Riho, as they proceed through their own stories and unravel records from the past, and is said to offer innovative CG expressions and visual tricks.

The director and scenario writer is Ichizo Kono of "Clock Tower" and "Neko Samurai" fame, and the character design is by Taro Minosei of "Love Plus Series" and "Tokimeki Memorial ONLINE" fame.

The main character Yakumo will be played by voice actor Wataru Komada, and the other main character Riho and other major characters will be played by six members of the hybrid unit "i☆Ris," which combines voice acting and idol activities. In addition, voice actors Noriko Hidaka and Yuko Minaguchi will also appear in the film.

Reservations for this title will begin on December 25, 2019 (Wednesday). It can be pre-ordered at various game stores and electronics retailers, as well as at GEO, Amazon, Yodobashi Camera, Kamishin Denki, Tay-Two, Rakuten, Sofmap, Ebiten [ebten], and Dengeki-ya, where original store perks will be offered.

In addition, a DVD "i☆Ris x Root Film Secret Footage Collection" will be available as a first purchase bonus. The DVD includes the live performance of "i☆Ris" at the Kadokawa Games Thanks Festival 2019 and the making of "Root Film's" original theme song "Utakata no Hikari" (Bubble Light).
