GREAT PRETENDER," a new anime by WIT STUDIO, creators of "Shinkage no Kyojin" and "Mahoutsukai no Yome," will be broadcast on Fuji Television Network's "+Ultra" in 2020!

GREAT PRETENDER" is an original TV animation produced by WIT STUDIO of "Kabaneri of the Iron Castle" and "Shinkoku no Kyojin" series. Masato Edamura, a self-proclaimed "Japan's number one genius swindler," and his partner Kudo make a fortune today by scamming a Frenchman sightseeing in Asakusa (......), but they end up getting swindled and robbed of a large sum of money. The man is Laurent Thierry, a confidant who plays even the mafia for a fool. Edamura gets caught up in Laurent's extraordinary "con game"...!
The only targets are the bad guys! They cheat and cheat and cheat! A grand <Con Game> that spans the globe from Los Angeles, Singapore, London, Shanghai, and Tokyo ...... is about to begin.

The main staff of the film has now been revealed.
The screenplay is written by Ryota Furusawa, a screenwriter who won the Best Screenplay Award at the 29th Japan Academy Awards for "ALWAYS: Sunset on Third Street" and has produced numerous other hit movies including "The Detective is at the Bar" and "Legal High".
This is the first time he has worked on an original anime. With "Confidence Man JP: The Romance Arc", a work commemorating the 60th anniversary of Fuji Television Network, currently a blockbuster hit, expectations are high for a new "con game" to be drawn.

The film is directed by Hiro Kaburaki of "Kimi ni Todoke" and "Onikan no Reito" fame, with character design by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto of "Nadia of the Secret Garden" and "Neon Genesis Evangelion" fame, making for an all-star cast.

I'm being cheated (?) on a daily basis. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for your patience. This is an animation work on the subject of "credit fraud" created by Mr. Furusawa, who is in charge of scriptwriting! A nostalgic yet new worldview that spans the globe. We are quite proud of this work. Please have a cup of coffee and wait for the finished product.

Character Design: Yoshiyuki Sadamoto
I was so engrossed in reading Mr. Furusawa's script, which I received at the planning stage, that I was able to perfect it. My work this time was based on the character image that came to my mind from that first impression, and while listening to the requests of Director Kaburaki and other staff members, I sought a character design with a sense of existence that will be loved by everyone for a long time. Personally, I enjoyed working on this work because it has my favorite taste, and it was a lot of fun and challenging work. I hope everyone enjoys it in front of the screen.

This is my first original animation. It was a big challenge for me, but I was able to make it with the help of a great studio. It was a big challenge, but with the help of Mr. Kaburaki, Mr. Sadamoto, and other top-notch staff at a wonderful studio, I managed to write it all the way through.
