It has been decided that the theatrical anime "Josee, the Tiger and the Fish" will be released in the summer of 2020. In addition, a new illustration and comments from Nao Emoto, the original character designer and comic book adaptation artist of the film, have been released.

Josee, the Tiger, and the Fish" is a masterpiece by Akutagawa Prize-winning author Seiko Tanabe, which was published in "Monthly Kadokawa" in 1984. The author passed away on June 6, 2019, at the age of 91. 2003 saw a live-action film adaptation starring Satoshi Tsumabuki and Chizuru Ikewaki, which attracted much attention.
An animated feature film adaptation is scheduled for 2020, directed by Tamura Kotaro, assistant director of "Wolf Children's Rain and Snow" and director of the "Noragami" series, with a screenplay by Kuwamura Sayaka of "Strobe Edge" and character designs by Iizuka Haruko of "Youxu x Boku SS" and "Whale Children Sing on the Sand". and "Whale Children Sing Above the Sand" for character design.
