Let's decide the best anime of 2019! Voting for the "Akiba Research Institute Anime Awards 2019" has begun!

Today, January 7, 2020 (Tuesday), Akiba Research Institute's official voting project "Decide the best anime of the year! Akiba Research Institute Anime Awards 2019" started today, January 7, 2020.

This project is to decide the best anime of the year by everyone's vote among the anime aired in 2019. 16 works ranked in the top 4 in each of the anime popularity polls of winter, spring, summer, and fall 2019, and 4 works recommended by Akiba Research Institute's editorial department, for a total of 20 works entered in this project. The previous editions of the "Anime Poll" had been "Anime" and "Anime".

In addition, the previous survey covered "the previous year's" fall anime to that year's summer anime (e.g., 2017 fall anime to 2018 summer anime), but from this year, the survey period has been changed to "that year's" winter anime to fall anime (e.g., 2019 winter to fall anime). As the title suggests, this is a project to determine the best anime of the year.

A strong candidate to watch out for is "Demon Slayer," which is enjoying great popularity. At the time of the spring anime popularity poll, it was still just past the midpoint of its airing, and the result fell to 4th place. However, as the story progressed, popular characters appeared one after another, and the unpredictable and thrilling storyline ignited the popularity of the show. The story has since been adapted into a stage play and an anime movie, and LiSA, who sings the theme song " Kourenka," has participated in the Kohaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Singing Contest), and the buzz is endless. It is highly anticipated how many votes it will garner in this year's Akiba Research Institute Anime Awards 2019.

Also, "Kemurikusa," a completely original anime directed by Tatsuki, was entered as a notable title from the winter anime series from about a year ago. Fans were interested to see what kind of anime director Tatsuki would create after leaving the production of "Kemurikusa". The title was highly praised for its "delicate and detailed psychological portrayal of the characters" and "fascinating worldview that you can immerse yourself in. Kaguya-sama ga Kesshirasai ~Tensai-tachi no Koenka Brain Battle~, " which was ranked second in the same winter anime category, also drew a great deal of attention as it was adapted into a TV anime and then a live-action movie.

Also of note are the four sequels to popular series that have been entered for the editorial board's recommendation. The reason for this recommendation is that all of these works are not only popular series, but are also highly accomplished as stand-alone animated works in terms of drawing, direction, and other aspects. Looking at the entries as a whole, sequels to popular series such as the romantic comedy "Karakajide no Takagi-san 2" and the dark fantasy "Shinkage no Kyojin: Season 3 Part 2" are also very popular. Re:Stage! Dream Days♪", which competed well with " Mr. Takagi" in the summer anime, should also be noted as a dark horse.

What will be the result? ...... "This anime was really interesting in 2019! Each person can cast up to seven votes, so you can either put all seven votes into the recommended works or one vote for each of your favorite works. The deadline for voting is January 21, 2020, so don't forget!
