This "Dia" song is a long-sought-after positive song with a sparkling sense of affirmation that has no hesitation, and is a true Uchida Marae! It is a positive song with a sparkling sense of positive affirmation without hesitation. She has overcome a period of pain and continues to be full of positivity, so we spoke with her about her past, present, and future.

youthful beautiful" expands the meaning of what it means to sing for Marie Uchida

─ First of all, what do you feel about your last album "youthful beautiful," including the reaction after its release, and how do you feel it turned out?

Uchida: Our music activities have always been about "moving on to the next thing" and "creating something new," and "youthful beautiful" was a work in which we took on the challenge with an even stronger awareness of this. I tried to sing "youthful beautiful" with a stronger awareness of this. I think this challenge is reflected in the way you sing the song. The song is more straightforward than ever before, and the lyrics are more in line with the feelings of the song. Many people told me they liked it, and I think the song was a step into a new world, including the feedback I received.

─ ─ The song resonated not only with fans of Uchida Marei, but also with many people beyond that, didn't it?

Uchida: We, the Uchida Marei team, know what "Uchida Marei's style" is and we value it, but for "youthful beautiful" we had a strong feeling of "Let's just go as far as we can without being conscious of Uchida Marei's style! I think that's why the song resonated with so many people.

─ Of course, the charm of the song is brought out by Uchida's singing, but even if other people cover the song at the future Anisama, for example, I have a feeling that it will be accepted as a normal "this is a great song! I have a feeling that even if other people cover the song at a future Anisama, it will be accepted as "This is a great song!

Uchida Yes, that's right! For example, "Step to Next Star! which is included in the album "Magic Hour," ZAQ wrote the lyrics and the music completely for me, so I don't think I could have sung the song without him. I think it's a song that only I could sing. It's like a conversation between the words "I'm sure the fans would be happy to hear this from Marei Uchida" and the words that the fans are sending to me. But "youthful beautiful" is not like that. It was difficult for me to decide how to sing it.

─ It is not a song about Marei Uchida herself, nor is it a song in which you play a character, but rather a song about something that is common to everyone's youth.

Uchida: My heart doesn't go into things that I can't describe the meaning of in my mind. There are characters, and those characters have their own lives and stories, and my daily life as a voice actor is to be close to them. That is why, when it comes to my musical activities, I want to feel something that I can relate to as a singer as much as I relate to the characters as a voice actor. Without that, I am not satisfied. That is why I always tell the creators and producer Akihiro Tomita, "I want to create something meaningful to me.

─ ─ For "youthful beautiful," you had to find that meaning and your feelings from a different place than in the past.

Uchida I am not a voice actor in "SSSS.GRIDMAN," so I felt the difficulty of "singing music as a member of the show even though I am not a voice actor. GRIDMAN", I was able to sing the ending song as a member of the characters in the anime. I think I was able to sing the song as a member of that feeling.

I also want to sing a song from "A of Diamonds! came true!

─ ─ After going through these challenges, you came up with the single "Kodo Escalation", but first of all, I heard that you had a strong yearning for the OP/ED songs of "Dia no A".

Uchida That's right! I love "Dia no A" so much! While watching the anime, I thought "I want to sing a song from this anime someday," and at Pony Canyon's ani-song event "P's LIVE! I was asked to sing the second ending song, Suzuko Mimori's "Glory! and I was allowed to sing it. I always wanted to be a member of "A of Diamonds" someday. It was like a miracle or a dream come true that I got to sing the ending song in "A of Diamonds act II"! (laughs).

─ ─ You also said on the radio that you were glad to be at Pony Canyon.

Uchida That is so true! That is so true! Thank you Pony Canyon! I love baseball, and I adored "A of Diamonds," and this is the 9th single that created a dream story for me that my feelings will come true if I keep thinking about them (big smile).
