Official Interview with Junichi Suwabe (original in Japanese)

Q.
How did you feel when you heard that it was going to be a movie version?
I thought, "Are you serious? I thought, "Are you serious? I wondered what kind of content it would be. I couldn't even imagine. I couldn't imagine what it would be like, but I guess you can do it if you try (laughs).

Q.What did you think of the film?
The members were having fun in the great outdoors. They were having fun in the great outdoors, but there were also some serious expressions on their faces. They must have a lot of things to think about and worries to face in their work as voice actors. In the scene where they sit around the bonfire and talk with each other, I think you can catch a glimpse of their true selves. I am older and have more artistic experience, so I feel like I am walking ahead of them, so I wondered how I was back then. I wondered how I would have been when I was that age.

Q.What did you think when you were the same age as the "Seiyuu Danshi" members?
Many TV anime productions nowadays end after 3 months. At that point, voice actors are out of a job. There is no guarantee that you will be able to appear in a new production. In other words, it is an extremely unstable job, with frequent job losses and job openings. How can I improve my ability to express myself? What should I do to survive in the future? I was also thinking about these questions and going through a trial-and-error process. Their current state was like looking at myself from the past, and I felt as if I were looking at them from a parent's perspective. I feel like I am looking at them from a parent's point of view (laughs).

Q.If you had to give advice to the "Seiyuu Danshi" members, what would you say?
Well, I would simply say, "Go for it! I guess. But I myself have to keep improving. I have to keep up the good work! (laughs).

Q.You have been watching over the "Seiyuu Danshi" members as Andrew since the pilot version! Have you seen any growth over the past 5 years?
I think that my accumulated experience has made me less nervous in a good way. Compared to the beginning, I think I have become more relaxed mentally. The members are now closer to each other, and I think we have become more cohesive as a group.

Q.Is there anything you would like the "Seiyuu Danshi" members to try in the future?
I think it would be something that takes advantage of the fact that we are seven members. I don't know what it is (laughs). (laughs) I would like to see us show the audience that we work as a team even better than before. All of us are voice actors by trade, so something that makes use of the skills of our day jobs might be good. Although there is a wide age range, the seven of us are both friends and rivals. It would be wonderful if we could all grow by stimulating each other. Being able to participate in a project like this is a good opportunity for more people to get to know me. I hope that we can work on this project with even more sincerity. I hope to respond to the wishes of all the staff and viewers who support the program.

Q.What kind of involvement would you like to have as "Andrew" in the program in the future?
I would love to have "Andrew," the living tiger, appear on the show and interact with the seven of us. I would love to see him interact with the seven of us. I will ad-lib some words into the video at a later date.

Q.Do you have a message for people who are going to see the movie version?
Please enjoy the movie at your leisure. I think you will be able to see various expressions on their faces in the film. As for Andrew... you'll have to wait and see (laughs). I honestly did not expect the show to last this long when it first started, and I will continue to support the growth of the seven members from Andrew's point of view, so please continue to support their fans. I am truly grateful for your support, "Tiger"!
