This thing is moving!" becomes a reality! Mobile Suit Gundam" 40th anniversary project "GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA" will open on October 1, 2020!

Today, January 20, 2020, an overview presentation of "GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA" was held in Tokyo, announcing that "GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA" will open on October 1, 2020 (Thursday), for a period of one year. It was also announced that a limited program will be held in July and August, allowing visitors to tour the facility from a special viewing deck before its opening.

The Gundam GLOBAL CHALLENGE project has been in the planning stages since 2014, aiming to realize the dream of moving an 18-meter full-scale Gundam and opening it to the public. While soliciting a wide range of ideas and plans, professionals from various fields, including researchers, engineers, and creators, gathered to discuss what can be done now, and repeated the design and verification process.

As a result, it was announced that "GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA" will open at Yamashita Pier in Yokohama for one year from October 2020.

The "GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA" will include a "GUNDAM-DOCK" where visitors can actually see a "moving Gundam" up close, and a "GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA" where visitors can learn how a "moving Gundam" works. The "GUNDAM-LAB" is composed of two areas: the "GUNDAM-DOCK" where you can actually see the "moving Gundam" up close, and the "GUNDAM-LAB" where you can learn how the "moving Gundam" works. A store where visitors can purchase some of the original products is also planned.

In addition, a limited program will be held on Saturdays and Sundays from July to August 2020, before the opening, to allow visitors to take a special tour of the facility. Visitors will be able to enter the venue early and experience the atmosphere, as well as climb the special viewing deck "GUNDAM-DOCK TOWER".

Gundam-Dook (G-DOCK)

The "GUNDAM-DOCK" is a deck where "moving Gundams" are stored and maintenance work is performed, and the "GUNDAM-DOCK TOWER" is a special viewing deck where visitors can see moving Gundams up close.

GUNDAM-DOCK TOWER
This is a special viewing space where visitors can see the moving Gundam up close from a height of 15 to 18 meters. The experience is limited to a certain number of people.
A fee will be charged in addition to the admission fee.

G-LAB (G-LAB)

A complex facility with stores, a café, and a communication space, in addition to an exhibition facility where visitors can enjoy learning about the mechanism of the "moving Gundam.

ACADEMY
An exhibition facility where visitors can learn about the design, structure, and mechanism of the moving Gundam.

CONFERENCE ROOM
A communication space for talk shows, lectures, research presentations, and workshops. Plans are also in the works to hold events in conjunction with companies, research institutes, and schools.

THE GUNDAM BASE YOKOHAMA Satellite

A store space that sells a variety of original products, mainly original Gunpla that are available only at the venue.

GUNDAM Cafe YOKOHAMA Satellite
A café where you can enjoy original menus related to Gundam and local gourmet foods unique to Yokohama.
