Yukari Tamura, Nana Mizuki, and others performed! A report on the 15th anniversary live performance of the anime "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha" has arrived!
The first live event of the "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha" series, which marked the 15th anniversary of the first TV anime broadcast, was held at Yoyogi National Stadium in Tokyo on January 18 and 19, 2020.
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha" is a popular anime series based on the original story and script by Maki Tsuzuki, and since its first season aired in 2004, sequels such as "A's" and "StrikerS" have been produced and broadcast, and the series has been developed in many media including anime movies, manga, and games, continuing to increase its fan base. In July 2017, "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Reflection," the first part of a completely new movie, was released, and in October 2018, the second part, "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Detonation," was released.
The live event report from January 18 and 19, 2020 has just arrived, and will be introduced below.
■Live Event Report
The opening of the event was a collaboration between Yukari Tamura (Nanoha Takamachi) and Nana Mizuki (Fate T. Harlaown), two voice actors and artists who have supported the series for 15 years. The stage opened with a dreamlike duet performance of "PHANTOM MINDS," the theme song sung by Mizuki and "My wish My love," the ED theme song sung by Tamura from the 2010 film "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The MOVIE 1st. The two sang together, sometimes eye-to-eye, sometimes hand-in-hand, as if they were recreating the friendship between Nanoha and Fate in the anime, which must have made fans' hearts pound with excitement right from the start.
The first half of the live consisted mainly of character songs, as if looking back on the 15-year history of the series. First up was the "Yagami Family," who have been an integral part of the series since the second TV anime "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's." Asami Sanada (Vita), who has been a member of the Yagami Family since the first episode of "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's," took the stage! Asami Sanada (Vita), Ryoka Yuzuki (Shamal), and Kari Shimizu (Signum) appeared on stage one after another to enliven the audience, and Yukana (Reinforce II) and Sanae Kobayashi (Reinforce I) who took the baton from them sang softly. After the song, Kana Ueda (playing Hayate Yagami) and Kazuya Ichijo (playing Zafira) joined the MC, bringing the whole Yagami family together. Moreover, this was Yukana-san's first participation in a "Nanoha" related event, making this the first time in history that the entire Yagami family was truly assembled. The fans in the audience who witnessed this historic moment applauded warmly for the seven members on stage. As if to mend their long-held feelings, they sang "Pray to the Stars (Kuru×2 mix)" together to close the Yagami family part of the show.
After the Yagami family left, Ms. Tamura and Ms. Mizuki appeared on stage in turn and sang two character songs of Nanoha and Fate, respectively. The pink and yellow costumes of Nanoha and Fate suited them well, as they were conscious of their image colors (magical light). The next four performers were from the third TV anime "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS": Chiwa Saito (Subaru Nakajima), Mai Nakahara (Tiana Lanster), Marina Inoue (Elio Mondial), and Mikako Takahashi (Caro Le Lucier). The sight of the four singing "To The Real" with their backs to each other on the center stage was deeply moving. StrikerS" was originally broadcast in 2007, and it had been 13 years since the first "Nanoha" event in which all four members were together. Takahashi, who has often participated in events as Chrono Harlaown, said that it had been a while since she had appeared in front of fans as Caro, and that she was "very happy to be wearing the pink costume [inspired by Caro] today.
Yoko Hikasa (Iris) and Kana Asumi (Yuri) from "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Reflection" released in 2017 and "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Detonation" released in 2018, respectively, participated only on Day 1. Ms. Hikasa sang "Daylight on Brave," a song originally sung by Kirie Florian (CV: Satomi Sato) in "Detonation," and the lyrics were sung by Iris in a new version created especially for this live performance. Iris, who inherited her best friend Kirie's feelings, sang "Winds on hope - to the end of the wilderness" with her other best friend Yuri, leaving her mark firmly on the history of "Nanoha.
Yui Ogura (played by Lynne Berlinetta) from the 2016 TV anime "ViVid Strike! Although she was the only member of the "ViVid Strike!" team, her powerful performance of the OP theme "Future Strike" amidst a rising column of fire and her refreshing rendition of Rinne's character song "Shiny Sky Memories" were as impressive as her seniors. The first half of the show focused on the character songs. The last performer of the first half, which focused on character songs, was Ueda-san, who plays Hayate, who calmly performed "Snow Rain" in the morning snow that fell on January 18, the day of the first day of the event. Ueda said, "I was a little nervous" when she sang "Snow Rain" and snow was falling outside the venue. The three members sang "Snow Rain" together for the first time on DAY 2, and the three-person version, which has not been released as a CD soundtrack, was of course a rare opportunity to hear it only on this day at this venue. Fans listened intently to their voices.
In the second half of the show, Mizuki and Tamura performed as artists, entertaining the audience with their respective charms. Ms. Mizuki, who has mainly sung the OP theme, gave a hot and intense performance that was a complete change from Fate's character songs. She performed five songs including "innocent starter," the "beginning song" of Nanoha, and "ETERNAL BLAZE," one of the most passionate songs in the series. On the other hand, Ms. Tamura, who has mainly sung the ED theme, sang "Hoshizora no Spica" and "Beautiful Amulet" and showed her voice filled with various feelings in a quiet way. She closed the long live performance with "Little Wish ~lyrical step~," the ED theme of the first TV anime.
Tamura-san and Mizuki-san appeared in front of the fans again for an encore and sang "Brand new Days". This is a new song included in "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Character Song Complete BOX" released in November 2019, and of course it was performed live for the first time. In addition, on DAY 2, Ueda, Tamura, and Mizuki sang "Dawn Prayer - Ver. Trinity Hearts" as Dierce, Stell, and Levi, who played in "Reflection" and "Detonation". For the finale, all the performers sang "Little Magic ~Lyrical Flower~", the ED theme of "Detonation", for a grand finale. Hoping to see them again, they joined their fans in the familiar chants of "Drive! Ignition! The 15th anniversary celebration came to a close with the familiar chants of "Drive!
......, but DAY 2 did not end there. After all the performers left the stage, a surprise announcement about the start of a new "Lyrical Nanoha" project was made on the screen on the stage! The audience was filled with joy, and amidst the uproar, a new page of "Nanoha" was set in motion. What is this new project? We look forward to more information in the future.
