Sneaking into the Tokyo convention of "Next Generation World Hobby Fair '20 Winter," Japan's largest game and hobby festival! Introducing booths of interest from the Akiba Research Institute's point of view!

The "Next Generation World Hobby Fair '20 Winter," one of Japan's largest game and hobby festivals, was held in Tokyo at the Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall for two days on January 25 (Sat.) and 26 (Sun.), 2020.

The "Next Generation World Hobby Fair" is an event of the latest games, hobbies and toys held every summer and winter. This year's event will be held from January to February 2020 at four venues in Nagoya, Tokyo, Fukuoka, and Osaka.

In this issue, we will report on the Tokyo event held on January 25 (Sat.) and 26 (Sun.)!

In this issue of Akiba Research Institute, we will introduce some of the booths that caught our attention! The Fukuoka convention will be held on February 2 (Sun), and the Osaka convention on February 9 (Sun), so read this article to get a preview!

Takara Tomy

Deden! The company with the largest exhibition space was Takara Tomy. The "Zoids Wild" booth, which also features the popular "Zoids Wild ZERO" anime, held the "My Zoids Contest: Next Generation WHF Competition. Of the modified Zoids submitted from all over Japan, 30 finalist works were displayed. The winner was chosen from among them, and visitors could vote for their favorite and receive modified weapon parts.

In addition, there was a "My Zoids Modification Experience Corner" and a display of modified Zoids by professional modeler Kyosuke Ozawa.

In addition, a modified Zoids by Kukki, Wild Bombshell, was displayed! Mr. Wild Bakugan Kukki!

Beyblade" also held two major events: the "G1 Burst Cup" to determine the strongest blader in Japan, and the "Gachinko Battle Stage" where visitors could win prizes by participating in an exhibition match! A large number of bladers participated in these events, which enlivened the venue.

In addition, many artists familiar to "DUEMA" fans, such as Kenta Harada and Festival nine, appeared on the popular card game "DUEL MASTERS" stage. They gave enthusiastic performances.

There was also a shooting event where visitors could relive the world of the popular game "Fortnite.

Takara Tomy Arts, Inc.

At the TOMY Arts booth, which exhibited the "Pokemon Gaore" and "Zoids Wild: Battle Card Hunter" game machines, competitions were held for each game, and artists who sang the theme songs performed live!

The hot songs drew a great crowd of people of all ages!

Z-project / a.k.a. RAMAR Vo. Yusuke Sakai Gu: Kazuto Baba appeared on the "Zoids Wild Battle Card Hunter" stage to sing "Wild Flowers," the OP theme song for the anime "Zoids" released during the RAMAR days, and a new song "Kizuna Wild" and other songs.

Hideaki Takatori, Aya Ikeda, Shogo Kamata, and Tatsuyuki Kobayashi appeared in "Pokemon Gaore. Grand Rush! Pokemon Gaore! and other popular songs. The audience danced along with them to the music.

Epic Games Japan

The popular game "Fortnite" was exhibited. In addition to the game, the booth featured "Disco Domination," where visitors could dance to popular emotes with the characters, a fishing game, a figurine display, and much more!

Nintendo

In addition to a display of past software and hardware that offers an overview of the history of "Pokémon," a "Desert Island Emigration Package" briefing will be held to promote the appeal of "Atsumare Animal Crossing" software for the Switch. Visitors were also able to take commemorative photos with the popular Tanuki Chichiro character!

BANDAI / BANDAI SPIRITS

At the BANDAI booth, the new fishing game "BAKUTSUZU HUNTERS" on the Nintendo Switch was heavily promoted!　A tournament was held where players could win limited items.

Also featured in Akiba Research Institute was the "Animagear" toy kit. All visitors to the booth received the first product in a limited package and a sticker! A generous ministry!

The "Cardboard Senki" is also a firm favorite. Visitors were able to collect LBX parts from the booth, assemble their own original LBX, and take commemorative photos. In addition, the results of the judging process for the photo submission site were also on display, and many fans lined up to see the results.

In addition, many other popular anime hobbies were on display, including "Yokai Gakuen Y," "Koroga Switch Doraemon," "Pochitto Invention Pikachin Kit," and others.

Namco Bandai Entertainment / Namco Bandai Amusement

The company is popular for its consumer and arcade games.

At the "Ninja Box" corner, visitors could experience the game, try their hand at the "Ninja Box Lottery," which was available only at the event, and enjoy live games played by popular YouTubers Rejikun and Gachosu.

The arcade game "Mario Kart Arcade Grand Prix DX" was also available for unlimited play!

Ponos

Ponos, which exhibited at the booth with "The Battle Cats," welcomed visitors to try out the latest version of "The Battle Cats" and find kitten in a ball pool! The booth also featured a fun stage performance that kept the crowd entertained from start to finish.

Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's New Dinosaur" Production Committee

Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's New Dinosaur" is scheduled to be released on March 6 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the "Doraemon" series and the 40th anniversary of the movie adaptation. At the booth, there were hands-on attractions, a photo spot where visitors could take commemorative photos with a giant egg, and advance tickets were on sale.

CoroCoro Comic

The booth of "CoroCoro Comic," a comic magazine with guts, laughter, and power, featured a number of exhibition halls and attractions related to popular works! Kids were lined up for photo spots, raffles, and other exhibits that were fun to participate in.

Weekly Shōnen Sunday "Detective Conan" booth

This booth featured a full lineup of popular "Shōnen Sunday" titles, including "Detective Conan! In the "SBI (Sunday Federal Bureau of Investigation) Recruitment Test" attraction, visitors who passed the knowledge, skills, and practical tests received a gift.

Popular voice actors including Minami Takayama, who plays Conan Edogawa in "Detective Conan," appeared on stage. Many fans came to see the event!

Doraemon" 50th Anniversary Booth

At the booth celebrating the 50th anniversary of "Doraemon," fans of all ages were able to put their hands in Doraemon's pockets, and past comics were on sale.

Gungho Online Entertainment, Inc.

Visitors got an advance look at "Pazudora GOLD," the latest in the "Pazudora" series for the Nintendo Switch! The first 5,000 people (1,000 each day / junior high school students and younger) to experience this game at the Next Generation World Hobby Fair will receive a free download card for this production version! The cards will be distributed at other venues as well, so don't miss out!
