I admire Chris, who is honest and human towards himself" - Interview and photos with Mikako Komatsu to commemorate the start of the broadcast of the anime "Bravest Warriors"!

Set in the year 3085 A.D. in space, the animated science fiction comedy "Bravest Warriors," in which Chris, Beth, Danny, Wallow, and the other four Bravest Warriors fight bad guys to protect peace in the universe, will be broadcast for the first time in Japan on Cartoon Network, a channel specializing in animated cartoons.

Ms. Mikako Komatsu, who plays the role of Beth, the smart, strong and reliable deputy leader, will talk about the appeal of cartoons, highlights of the show, episodes with Toshiki Masuda (who plays Chris) and Yuichiro Umehara (who plays Danny), as well as the "Bravest Challenge" that she took on in the "Mikako Komatsu's Bravest Challenge! a program commemorating the broadcast of this work, as well as about the "horseback riding" challenge she took on in the "Challenge Project" of "Mikako Komatsu Bravest Challenge!

At the end of the article, there is a present announcement, so be sure to check it out as well!

-- Please tell us about Beth's character.

Komatsu: She is a smart, strong and reliable girl. She is interested in Chris, but she can't be honest with him. I sympathize with her in that way. I want to remain a tsun with someone who hasn't shown any weakness. I can't be derelict at this point. I also have a part of me that is stubborn toward my family (laughs).

-- Is there a character you are interested in?

Komatsu They are all quite unique, so I am interested in each of them. But I think Chris. He is honest with himself and very human. He has his faults, gets jealous, and gets jealous, but he expresses his feelings to Beth. I admire his honesty, which I don't have. Catbug is a cute mascot character that everyone can see. Many animals also appear in the film. The spaceship itself is a killer whale, and there are various creatures inside it. There are also cockroaches, but you get attached to them in the end.

-- What are the highlights of your work?

Komatsu: It is very interesting that there are various episodes, and even though a major event occurs in its own way, a new story starts the following week as if nothing had happened. It is a work that makes you want to think about how much of it is foreshadowing. Some episodes are heartwarming, while others end up being full of mysteries. Some episodes from the past lead to the future, making this work enjoyable both on an episode-by-episode basis and as a total work. It is full of black jokes and surrealism, and can be enjoyed either simply or with deep thought. You may find yourself saying, "What's the point?" after deep consideration (laughs).

(laughs) -- I think the romantic episode between Chris and Beth is one of the highlights of the movie.

Komatsu: Beth likes Zachary, who looks a lot like Chris, but as the story progresses, she and Chris get better. I played the role while remembering the thrill of being an adolescent at the age of 17. I remember the thrill of being an adolescent at the age of 17, and I naturally feel that way when I am in front of Chris, who is so straightforward and pure.

-- This film looks like it is for children, but the content is for adults, isn't it?

Komatsu The visuals are simple, like dots and lines, but the story is for adults. But when you are a child, you tend to want to watch adult-oriented works, saying, "I don't understand it, but it's interesting. As an adult, I sometimes think to myself, "What a thing I watched," but perhaps the charm of this work is that it can be enjoyed over several years. The amount of visual information is small, but the amount of verbal and story information is very large. I find the gap between the two interesting.

-- Chris is a very single-minded character, but is there anything that you like single-mindedly, Mr. Komatsu?

Komatsu My all-time favorite is Mai Kuraki. It is sometimes difficult to be in love with a person all the time, but I never waver when it comes to Ms. Kuraki. It is Ms. Kuraki to whom I go back to my roots. When we performed together before, we sang together. If there is an opportunity, I would like to do postrecording with him this time.

-- What about the roundtable discussion with Masuda-san, who plays Chris, and Umehara-san, who plays Danny ("Bravest Challenge! (to be broadcast in the program)?

Komatsu: Darmus (Masuda-san) and I made our debuts very close, so we are like classmates. We worked together for the first time on his debut film, and we played card games after recording. In the round-table discussion, Dasasu would tell a story and insert a self-deprecating joke, and I would join in. Ume-chan (Umehara-san), who was watching from the side, would laugh. My first collaboration with Ume-chan was in a reading performance. I thought he was cool, but he was surprisingly funny on the inside. He has a surrealistic sense of humor. When I heard that Ume-chan was going to do bungee jumping, I thought, "He looks like he's going to jump off with a straight face. I think I was probably right, so I would like to confirm it on the show (laughs).

-- Now, let's talk about the "Mikako Komatsu's Bravest Challenge! Let me ask you about the challenge project. Why did you choose horseback riding?

Komatsu I chose horseback riding because I don't have many opportunities to touch animals and because various mysterious animals appear in the film. When we were shooting in a place with horses before, I was rolling the camera for an off-shot, and the horse right behind me suddenly rolled over and started rubbing its back on the ground. It seemed like his back was itching, but seeing him like that piqued my interest and I thought, "I'd like to ride him someday. Beth does ninja-like moves, so the "ninja experience" was also on my list. (laughs).

-- So your wish came true. How was your first time riding a horse?

Komatsu: It was more exercise than I expected, and I was drenched in sweat. That day, I experienced everything from basic posture, to holding the reins, to light fast walking. Thanks to the instructor and the veteran horse, I was able to progress quickly. I was praised for having "good muscles." My muscles were sore for about three days, but I enjoyed it so much that I would do it again.

There were moments when I felt like I was one with the horse as I felt the horse's body temperature change and its heart beat through my body, and it felt really good. The horse was called "Tama-chan," but I called him "Tama-san" because I respected him so much for adjusting to me as a first-time rider. I was like, "Tama-san, please," or "Tama-san, let me kick you. I had only ridden on merry-go-rounds, so I was really surprised at the size of the realistic horse.

-- Is there anything you would like to challenge next?

Komatsu: I would like to get a driving license other than a car license. I would like to drive heavy machinery or something large. It would be cool if I could do it. It takes time, strength, and patience, so it may be difficult to take on the challenge as an adult, but I would like to learn a skill, though it is not a job in hand.

-- That is cool. There's a gap between what it looks like and what it is.

Komatsu I think endurance, patience, and smarts like Beth are worthy of respect. Every time I see a leader type, I am envious. Beth is in the position of deputy leader, but she can do things that are practically like a leader. People close to me sometimes ask me for advice about their problems, but I myself am not dependable, and most of all, I lack confidence. I can't take the lead, so I want to be someone who can be there for others.

-- Lastly, do you have a message for the viewers?

Komatsu: Basically, every episode is a comedy, and if you watch it, you will feel refreshed. While it is omnibus-like, each character's parent has a deep story, and when viewed as a whole, it is an epic tale. It is a work that can be enjoyed both comfortably and thoughtfully. In the challenge project, Damasu played the crane game, Ume-chan went bungee jumping, and I went horseback riding, which also showed our personalities. I am sure we will be talking about the work in the roundtable discussion, so I hope you will enjoy it as much as the main story.
