Noriaki Sugiyama and Noriko Shimoya took the stage for a talk show while watching footage of the production process!
How were the three famous scenes created? Chapter 2" will look back with the treasured making-of footage.

It has been about 8 months since the highly acclaimed theatrical release of "Fate: The Second Chapter". Fate/stay night[Heaven's Feel]" II.lost butterfly Blu-ray & DVD will finally be released on August 21, 2019. Prior to its release, an event was held at Shinjuku Wald 9 on August 17, 2019, where the "Video Master Version" of the Blu-ray & DVD recording, with more than 250 cuts brushed up from the theatrical version, was screened on the big screen of a movie theater and with high-quality sound.
At the event, main cast members Noriaki Sugiyama, who plays Shiro Emiya, and Noriko Shimoya, who plays Sakura Magiri, were surrounded by the audience as they looked back on many famous scenes while watching "Animation Material II," a special video that is a bonus for ufotable exclusive stores.

Yuichi Terao, director of photography at ufotable, commented that this scene "is one of the symbolic scenes of 'Fate/stay night [Heaven's Feel]' the Movie. commented. At this event, a production process video was shown, showing the "storyboard" by director Tomonori Sudo, the "line shot video" of the original drawings (animation) by the animators, and the "finished video" with finishing touches (coloring) and filming process.

Sugiyama and Shimoya recalled their impressions of the recording process.
We did the dubbing with the storyboards that we shot. Mr. Sudo's storyboards are really beautiful and the expressions of the characters are very carefully drawn," said Shimoya.
He made it easy for us to grasp the facial expressions and emotions of the characters. I appreciate it." (Sugiyama)
Shimoya revealed that he had been struggling with the acting plan for this scene.

She said, "It was a very difficult scene where Sakura talks about herself for the first time and expresses her feelings, so I was hoping to have a chance to talk with Sudo-san before recording the scene. Then, there was a short break before we started recording this scene. When I was about to talk to Mr. Sudo, Kinoko Nasu (the original writer) was there as well, so I asked him about this scene. Talking with the two of them helped me to resolve some of the issues I was having, and I was able to act with confidence.

On the other hand, Mr. Sugiyama said, "I built the play for this scene based on Sakura's feelings.
Sakura was the main focus of this scene. Sakura confides something that Shiro did not know and expresses her feelings to him. So, I took what Mr. Shimoya had performed, as confirmed by the director (Sudo) and Mr. (Nasu), and I took it in the same way as Shiro did in the film. I wanted to make a play out of what I felt inside myself. That is why I didn't dare to confirm or discuss with him how he would take the lines (Sakura's lines) before recording. The staff reacted to my performance during the test recording by saying, "It's OK as it is," so I went into the actual recording with confidence.
I was happy to be able to record with Mr. Sugiyama. I was happy to be able to record with Mr. Sugiyama. I could feel how he was feeling right next to me as he was acting next to me on the microphone. ...... I'm so embarrassed (laughs)" (Shimoya)

In the "Animation Material II" video shown this time, raindrops drawn in 3DCG are also shown close-up. It was revealed that 900 raindrops in the near view and 200,000 raindrops in the far view were used to create a beautiful and intense rain scene in a single cut.

The raindrops look like tears, which I thought was very nice," said Shimoya.
I thought it was a perfect balance of looking like sad tears of cherry blossoms and sunlight shining through the trees as a ray of hope for Shiro," said Sugiyama.

The second scene is the "power game" between Saber Alter and Berserker at Einzbern Castle. Director of Photography Terao said this is the most intense battle scene in "Chapter 2. The entire scene of the battle at Einzbern took place on one vast battlefield," he commented. In "Animation Material II," aerial footage (from a bird's eye view) reveals where the battle between Saber Alter and Berserker moved and turned inside and outside the castle.

Sugiyama and Shimoya couldn't help but comment on how impressed they were when they saw the footage.
Sugiyama and Shimoya couldn't help but comment on how impressed they were with the footage: "How big was the castle, how far away were the characters, and where was the camera positioned? You can tell that the images were carefully calculated.
Berserker and Saber Alter fly in an instant, giving a sense of speed, so I didn't feel the vastness of the castle in the film, but when I saw it from a bird's eye view like this (......), I could clearly see the vastness of Einzbern Castle.

In this scene, the battle between Servants is depicted with great intensity.

This scene depicts Servants' battle with great intensity.
It's like a mythical battle. The effects are very detailed, and there are many layers of filming and processing. I think it is a wonderful match between the refined expressions of Japanese 2D animation and the meticulously crafted expressions of the 3D models.

Animation Material II also includes a storyboard of the battle scene. When you compare it to the finished film, you can see how great the workmanship is.

The footage we watched during post recording was at the storyboarding stage, but at that point I could feel that the animation was going to be amazing, so much so that I was worried that the animators would have a hard time.
Sugiyama: "This was the first time I had ever cried while watching a battle scene like this. It was the first time for me to cry while watching a battle scene like this.

The last scene shown was the "nightmare" scene in which the secret of Sakura Magiri is revealed. Director of Photography Terao commented on this scene, "This is the 'nightmare' scene where reality is linked to Sakura Magiri's dream. What is noteworthy is that the size of the place and the height of the walls perfectly match the subsequent scene in the alleyway and the scene inside the castle. What does that mean: ......?" He made an interesting comment. In "Animation Material II," he shows off the fantastic castle, the fancy characters, and the castle's picture frames that appear in Cherry Blossom Dreams.
The first time you saw the cherry blossom dream scene in "Chapter II," you may have been surprised to see what had just begun. We were also surprised by this scene. We were also surprised at this scene.
I was also surprised when I saw the rehearsal video before the recording! I was also surprised when I saw it in the rehearsal video before recording.
(Sugiyama) "I thought this scene was only possible because it was based on the text of the original game. It is a scene that depicts the inner life of Sakura. When Director Sudo showed me the storyboard, I couldn't help but exclaim, "Mr. Sudo, you are a genius! He's a genius,'" exclaimed Shimoya.
The balance is exquisite. Not only does it give the impression of a fairy tale, but it also has some disturbing impressions, such as the stuffed animals flowing in the river. I thought it was amazing." (Sugiyama)

Mr. Shimoya also gave the highlight of the dream scene.

The framed paintings on the walls inside the castle in "Chapter 2" are visuals that were inserted in the flashback scene in "Chapter 1" when Shiro comes in contact with the shadows. If you have the "Chapter 1" package, I would like you to check it out in frame-by-frame.

Finally, the two expressed their enthusiasm for the final chapter, "Chapter 3," which is about to be released to the public, along with a screening of the special PV.

We will be doing the postrecording from now on, but we saw the almost completed scenario of "Chapter 3" when we appeared at the stage event at "Fate/Grand Order Fes.2019~Caldea Park~". [HF] has a long storyline and a branching narrative, so if someone other than Director Sudo had been in charge of the visualization, I'm sure a different [HF] would have been depicted. However, I really think that the director Sudo's [HF] this time is the best, and it has such a high level of perfection. The best of [HF]. There are a lot of hard scenes, a lot of tough scenes, but we're going to pull ourselves together and try our best in the recording." (Shimoya)
I'm really looking forward to the postrecording. I'm really looking forward to the dubbing, and I wonder what kind of amazing images will be created by adding various production processes to the dubbing. I can only look forward to it.

The movie "Fate/stay night[Heaven's Feel] III. spring song" will be released in the spring of 2020. What kind of scenes will be depicted by their postrecording? Looking forward to that day, the event ended with loud applause from the audience. We hope you will continue to support "Fate/stay night [Heaven's Feel]" the movie.
