Official Interview

The first interview after recording is with Ai Chino, who plays the role of Daknes !

───Please tell us how you felt when the movie was decided.

To be honest, I couldn't really imagine what it would be like to make a movie based on "Konosuba. But when I read the script, I was amazed to see that it was really a movie! It's "KonoSuba"! It's "KonoSuba"! I thought, "It's "KonoSuba"!" It is a movie on a scale while keeping the same groove of the TV series. I heard that there were many parts that had to be done due to the length of the film, but it was very interesting during the postrecording stage, so I couldn't wait to see how it would turn out when the images and music were added.

─ ─ It is true that I did not have any image of a movie at all.

Konosuba" is more like an everyday life. It doesn't feel like something big is going to happen. I know that the work itself is popular and has many fans, but there is something about it that has an everyday feel to it. I had the image of a set menu restaurant, not a full-course meal (laughs).

(laughs) ─ I totally understand.

That's why it's a movie! (laughs) ─ ─ I understand that very much.

─ ─ So you can enjoy the full-course atmosphere of "Konosuba"?

Rather, it was more like a full-course set meal (laughs).

─ ─ Ha-ha-ha-ha (laughs).

Like a luxurious set meal served in a stylish manner? So the taste of "Konosuba" is basically the same. This may be another food example, but a very simple omelet with grated radish and soy sauce is not transformed into a fluffy omelette from Mont Saint-Michel. It is not a simple omelet with grated radish and soy sauce, but a fluffy omelet transformed into a Mont Saint-Michel omelet. There is nothing special about it being a movie, so I think you will feel a great sense of security as soon as it starts.

─ ─ I am looking forward to it even more.

This time, since Megumi was the main character in the story of Red Devil's Village, there was a lot of interaction between Megumi and Kazuma, but for Daknez, it was like going to visit a friend's hometown. So when it came to recording the ending song, we finally settled on the idea that Daknes should sing the song as if he were following his friend back to his friend's hometown. Mr. Anai (*Nippon Columbia music producer) directed "Konosuba," and after we sang the song, he consulted with us on how the song should be sung, making it easy to understand the story. Daknes is usually a sharp and dignified woman and a domineering person, but this is not the case with Daknes. I hoped that the song would have a soft and warm atmosphere, as if she was reminiscing about her childhood while listening to the old stories of the Red Devil's Village.

I wanted to sing in a soft and warm atmosphere, as if I was reminiscing about my own childhood while listening to the old tales of the Red Devil's Village.

So, he may not be the Daknes we always know, but since this is the fourth ending theme for both the game and the song, I thought it would be good to show the true side of Daknes. I am focusing on singing from my true feelings, without any embellishment.

─ ─ What did you think when you heard the ending theme "My Home Town"?

Humbert Humbert's music is really wonderful, and even though it is not a sad song, it brings tears to my eyes. His songs are very warm and comforting, so I always feel like I've been beaten to the punch.

─ Did you always like Humbert Humbert's songs?

I first encountered Humbert Humbert through "Konosuba" and listened to many of his songs after that. I also went to his live performances, and I really like his music!

─ Takahashi-san's Megumi sang a bit emotionally, but Daknes sang a bit flat.

It's amazing how different it is between those who are involved and those who are not. The lyrics have a nostalgic feel, so I wanted to create an atmosphere of telling an old story. It was interesting that Mr. Anai said, "It's like listening to a reading.

─ Were there any parts that you liked while singing?

I like the song itself too much already, it's everything. ...... I think the lyrics remind me of my childhood, no matter who listens to them.

─ ─ People who have moved to Tokyo will be especially moved by this song, won't they?

Like "I want to go home" (the ending of the second season), I think everyone will go back to their parents' house (laughs). The ending of "KonoSuba" has a certain smell to it that makes you wonder why you miss your parents' house so much. That's what's so wonderful about it! The song is familiar to anyone's ears, and even though it has such a gentle tone, it grabs you something. It is a wonder that many of Humbert Humbert's songs are not only warm but also painful. I wonder why they decided to use Humbert Humbert's music for the ending of the first season. Nowadays, I don't feel "Konosuba" is over without that ending.

─ I heard that you didn't even make a sample movie so that people can listen to the song for the first time in the movie.

I think it's a good idea! I really like the last part "I'm going home today, I'm going home properly, see you next time", but I think Megumi sang it while thinking of Benima no Sato, so I want people to pay attention to Megumi's song as well.

─ Do you have any memories of the postrecording of the movie?

I could see from his back that Jun Fukushima's stamina level was decreasing rapidly as he talked and shouted. But I also felt that I had done my job! After the second day, we went out for a drink, and Jun-san's face turned bright red as he said that the shwashuwa after the event was the best he had ever tasted (laughs).

(laughs) ─ I'm sure it must have been delicious (laughs).

(laughs) But it felt like we all ran through the event together. On the second day, Ten Amemiya had to rush to the event, but I wanted to end the event with everyone, so I asked the other members to go to the launch site first, and party members Jun, Lee-chan (Riie Takahashi), and I stayed behind to wait for Ten. We watched Ten-chan's last scene together and thanked her for her hard work! We had a good time in the studio and then went to the launch site. I didn't want her to be alone afterwards.

It was a wonderful party. The "KonoSuba" team must have been united.

Yes, we are. It's been a long time now, and "KonoSuba" was a little short with 10 episodes, but it was so rich that it doesn't seem that way. I miss everyone all the time. I think the bond between the team had deepened considerably by the time of this film.

─ ─ Finally, could you give us a message?

I know you have been waiting for it, but right now, I myself want to see it the most! This time, the story takes place in Megumi's hometown, Benima-no-sato, and Daknes is also accompanying Megumi and showing her typical activities (laughs), so please look forward to that as well. Not only is the story funny, but there are also scenes that will leave you with a sense of bittersweetness, so I think you will see a different "KonoSuba" from the TV series. I hope you will enjoy the movie version of "KonoSuba" in the theater, which has the same flavor as the TV series.
