Future developments regarding the eSports program for the tactical shooter "Rainbow Six Siege" are known!

Ubisoft announced the upcoming world championships for its current tactical shooter "Rainbow Six Siege" and "Phase 3" of its revenue-sharing program that has been running over the past two years.

Rainbow Six Siege, released in 2015 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, focuses on multiplayer, with 10 players acting as "operators" with special equipment and fighting on the offensive and defensive sides. The game features a severe system in which teamwork is extremely important due to the small number of players in combat, and players must use special abilities to recover their reduced health.

According to the announcement, the "Pro League" e-sports program for this title will conclude with the "Pro League Season XI Final," a world championship to be held in Brazil on May 16 (Sat.) and 17 (Sun.), 2020. A new structure will be established with the introduction of the "National League.

The company also announced the start of Phase 3 of the "Revenue Share Program," in which profits from in-game items will be returned to selected teams. The program aims to grow the "Rainbow Six Siege" professional e-sports scene, create a healthy environment, and ensure a supportive environment for teams, players, and talent. Phase 3 is likely to include support for up to 44 teams operating in professional leagues. For more details, please check the following.

■Changes under the new program

The tournament will be divided into four quarters per year, with four regions (Europe, North America, South America, and APAC) competing in parallel.
The first three quarters will be concluded with an offline world tournament called "Major," which will bring together the best four teams from each region, for a total of 16 teams.
In the final quarter, rankings will be determined based on points from matches played during the first three quarters, and the top four teams from each region, 16 teams in total, will qualify for the Six Invitational to be held in February.
In addition, one team from each region will qualify for the Six Invitational in January, for a total of four teams. A total of 20 teams will qualify for the Six Invitational. The results of the National League and Major will have a significant impact on the global rankings, paving the way for the Six Invitational.

■Changes by Region

APAC (Asia-Pacific)
The PAC region consists of two divisions, South and North. The North Division will be an online league with a total of 12 teams from Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia. Ubisoft has selected ESL as its program and event management partner for the APAC region. Details on how to participate in this league will be announced at a later date.

Europe
The European League will expand to 10 teams and will aim to build on the experience of the previous leagues. More than ever before, the National League will become more important as a pathway for participation in global programs. FaceIt and LiveNation are co-production partners for the European League and offline events.

Latin America
Latin America will expand from 8 to 10 teams in Brazil, and will continue to expand into the South American region, including Argentina, Peru, Chile, and Uruguay. In Mexico, tournaments will be held mainly offline. Latin America will be organized from three divisions (Brazil, Mexico, and South America) to increase global competitiveness. The program in Latin America will be implemented with Ubisoft and contracted companies in each region.

・North America
In North America, the goal is to maintain champion players and communities, while improving the overall level of the game. New programs will be implemented in the North American Division. In addition, a Canadian Division will be established and the challenge to the world will begin from Canada.

Revenue Sharing Phase 3

The "Phase 3" of the Revenue Share Program, which has been implemented for two years since 2018, has been launched to return profits from in-game items to selected teams. The aim of implementing this program is to ensure the growth and healthy environment of the "Rainbow Six Siege" professional e-sports scene and a supportive environment for teams, players, and talent. Specifically, the following activities will be implemented.

Phase 3 will support up to 44 teams (organizations), including all teams (organizations) active in professional leagues in all regions of the world.
Support teams (organizations) over the first four years of the program to ensure that they are able to operate for a long period of time.
Three new tiers will be introduced so that revenue distribution and requirements can be adapted to the operational status of each team (organization).

Phase 3 provides a clearer and sounder structure to support the professional e-sports scene. This program will lead to a redefinition of what constitutes a "professional" team in Rainbow Six Siege through higher industry standards. Implement a quality selection process that includes a fair and neutral third-party review.

To be eligible, teams (organizations) must meet the minimum requirements of a professional regional league and participate in a national program.
The classification of the three tiers will be determined by a third-party evaluation based on materials submitted by the teams (organizations).
Teams (organizations) selected to participate in Phase 3 will be evaluated every three months and ranked using criteria such as match ratings, support provided by the team (organization) to its players, and revenue from in-game item sales. Teams are promoted or demoted at the end of the year.
The ranks and ranks determine a portion of each team's revenue return.

30% of the net revenue from related items will be returned to the teams selected for Phase 3.

League items: 30% of the profits from each regional league item sold will be divided among Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, and the performance pool.
Pro Team items: For each team-branded item sold, 30% of the profit is split to the respective team's organization.
Six Major items: A set of items with operators sold for each Major. 30% of the profit is added to the total prize pool of the Six Major event.
Road to S.I. Battle Pass: 30% of the proceeds from this Battle Pass will be added to the Six Invitational prize pool.
Proceeds from the sale of Six Major items and Road to S.I. Battle Passes will be added to the prize pool for each event, with the winning team receiving 70% of the total prize money and the team (organization) receiving 30% of the total prize money.
