More details about Operation Void Edge in the tactical shooter game Rainbow Six Siege! Plus, update plans for YEAR 5 and 6!

Ubisoft has announced the future of Year 5 and plans for updates for Year 6, in addition to details on Operation Void Edge, the first season of Year 5 of the tactical shooter game "Rainbow Six Siege."

Rainbow Six Siege, released in 2015 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, focuses on multiplayer, with 10 players acting as "operators" with special equipment and fighting on the offensive and defensive sides. The game features a severe system in which teamwork is extremely important due to the small number of players in combat, and players must use special abilities to regain their energy.

Operation "Void Edge" features two new operators. Iana" and "Oryx" will be added to the attacker and defender, respectively. In addition, the map "Oregon," which is included in the production, has been restructured. There are various changes, but the main points of interest seem to be the expansion of the underground, attic, and surveillance tower areas in particular. In addition, Void Edge is available for trial play on the Windows PC version test server from February 17, so those interested are encouraged to participate.

Ubisoft will also work to improve key system areas, such as adjusting existing maps and operators, as well as in-game events that will provide players with a constantly new experience over the next two years. The company also revealed details of its update plans for Year 5 and Year 6. First, the first two seasons of YEAR5 will include adjustments to the map and two operators. The remaining two seasons will introduce the update plan regarding YEAR6.

YEAR6 will offer a lot of free content, including one player and map adjustment each season, limited-time events, and updates regarding gameplay. A Battle Pass will also be available for each new season of Void Edge. For more information, please check the following.

■Addition of new operators

Iana

While studying for her doctorate in systems engineering, Iana pioneered the development of software for terrain mapping. Using that software, he developed the "Gemini Replicator," which generates a hologram of himself. Once activated, the hologram can be directly manipulated, and can move and make sounds just like himself. However, shooting, melee attacks, and sub-gadgets are not possible.

Oryx

Oryx is the unofficial second-in-command of the fortress and acts as a trusted advisor in Kaid's absence. Oryx does not use gadgets, but uses his well-trained body to break out of various situations with his "lemma dash. His speed allows him to efficiently search for targets and cover short distances at a speed never seen before. In addition, "Lema Dash" can down opponents and run through destructible walls, but his own strength is reduced. In addition, Oryx can climb hatches, which also gives him a strategic advantage over his opponents.

Adjustments to the "Oregon" map

Expanded areas of basements, attics, and surveillance towers
Tweaked damage to debris.
Changed the starting position of the attacker's drone.
New player hub screen
Lesion and Twitch changes
Added "Ash" and elite skin "Lara Croft

■Improvements to the gameplay portion of the game
In order to further develop "Rainbow Six Siege" in the future, we will work on improving the gameplay, which has a significant impact on all players. Currently, the following points will be prioritized.

Improvements to the preparation phase and support mode to make them more meaningful
Expanding player privileges
Improvements to previously released content such as maps, operators, etc.
Creating content that allows players to influence the environment and their relationships with other players, as well as improving existing content.

For example, the introduction of a more user-friendly pin system will stimulate communication within the team and lead to better game play. We are also currently testing a number of improvement ideas for Year 5 and Year 6, including a proposal to make more sub-gadgets available.

■ Reworking operators

Rework has a significant impact on how operators are utilized and rethinks the entire gameplay when using each operator. Other operators will be reworked in future seasons.

■In-Game Events

In YEAR4, many in-game events such as "Rainbow is Magic," "Showdown," "Doktor's Curse," and "Road to SI" were held. The event will also include one major ingame event in each season. The events will offer unique gameplay and new experiences for all players. In addition to that, a weekend-only playlist, "Arcade," will be available. The first "Arcade" playlist, "Golden Gun", will be implemented during YEAR5 Season 1 and then scheduled to begin in YEAR5 Season 3.

■Currently announced changes
