This spring, the Korean boy group "Stray Kids" will sing the OP/ED theme songs for "Tower of God," which will be animated in Japan, the U.S., and Korea!
The opening and ending songs for "Tower of God," which will be animated in Japan, the U.S., and South Korea starting in the spring of 2020, will be performed by the boy group Stray Kids.
Tower of God" is a webcomic that has been serialized on NAVER WEBTOON, a South Korean webtoon portal, since 2010 and on LINE Manga in Japan since 2018. It is currently translated into 28 languages.
Stray Kids" is a boy group that debuted in South Korea in March 2018 and will sing the opening and ending theme songs for the anime adaptation. Stray Kids" means "wandering kids" in Korean, and the group is different from any other existing group in that they are not bound by any set boundaries, but rather, they are different from any other existing group in that they are able to express their individuality and free-spirited charms to the fullest. The group has gained popularity at an unprecedented pace as a newcomer group, and in less than a year since their debut, they have toured four regions of the world (Asia, Europe, America, and Australia).
This time, the songs have been produced to coincide with the anime development in Japan, the U.S., and Korea, with the Japanese version of the songs available in Japan, the English version in the U.S., and the Korean version in Korea.
Comments from Stray Kids members Banchan, Reno, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Sunmin, Felix, and Ayen are as follows (all in Japanese).
Comments from Stray Kids members
Mr. Banchang: I had heard about "God's Tower" from NAVER WEBTOON on the recommendation of a friend. It was very interesting from the beginning and I watched it a lot, so I am very honored that we got this chance. I am very happy to be in charge of the opening and ending songs for an anime of a work that I have wanted to do for a long time. Moreover, it is like a dream come true to be in charge of three languages.
Reno: It's a strange feeling to be chosen to sing the opening and ending songs for "Kanno Tower," which I have been watching for a long time. I will definitely watch the anime when it starts airing. During the recording, it was difficult to sing in Japanese, Korean, and English, but I had a lot of fun singing. Please look forward to the finished product.
Changbin: "Tower of God" was a well-known work on the NAVER WEBTOON, so I had the opportunity to watch it many times. Please love us a lot.
Hyunjin: The members of Stray Kids are comic book fans, so we used to watch "Tower of God" a lot, and it's a strange feeling to be able to sing the theme song for such a work. We are looking forward to seeing the anime "Tower of God" on the air.
Han: "Tower of God" is a really famous work in Korea, so I was really honored to hear that we were assigned to sing the opening and ending songs for the anime of this work. Personally, I have always wanted to try my hand at writing songs for an anime, so I am very happy to have been able to make it happen. I am also very happy that I recorded the song in each of the three languages so that many people will be able to listen to it. I will make your ears happy with good songs, so please look forward to hearing them!
Seungmin: I still can't believe that we, Stray Kids, will be singing the opening and ending songs for the "Tower of God" anime. It was my first experience to sing the theme song for an anime, so I was very nervous. I still vividly remember that I had to take good care of my throat while recording the song. The song is really good, and I am happy to be able to deliver it to you in three different languages. I hope a lot of people will listen to it!
Felix: I'm really looking forward to it. I can't wait to see the anime "Tower of God"! We are also very particular about the songs, so we hope you will pay attention to them.
Mr. Ayen: When I heard about this, it was a really strange feeling. I am very happy. Especially the ending song, which is my personal favorite, so please look forward to it.
■Comments from the General Manager of the NAVER WEBTOON Division
In addition, we also received a comment from Mr. Kim Shin Bae, the business manager of "NAVER WEBTOON" (original text below).
Comment from Mr. Kim Shin Bae:
We are very happy to announce that "Stray Kids" has been chosen to sing the opening/ending theme song (in Japanese, English, and Korean) for our global animation project, "The Tower of God". Welcome to "JINNOTOWER"! Perhaps the reason why "The Tower of God" has been loved by so many readers for so many years is the longing for the unknown, the courage to face fears, and above all, the hearts of the main characters who try to protect what is important to them.
We believe that the worldview of "Kaminotou" will harmonize well with the powerful yet delicate sound and attractive voice of "Stray Kids" to create a great synergy.
