The live-action film version of "Rurouni Kenshin: The Last Chapter" continues with Yosuke Eguchi playing the role of Hajime Saito! The change in Kenshin and Saito as the world goes by is a must-see.

Two consecutive live-action films, "Rurouni Kenshin: The Final" and "Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning," will be released on July 3, 2020 (Friday). It has been decided that Yosuke Eguchi will continue to play the role of Hajime Saito in these films.

Rurouni Kenshin" is a live-action film based on the manga "Rurouni Kenshin - Meiji Swordsman Romantic Tan" by Nobuhiro Watsuki. The first "Rurouni Kenshin" was released in 2012, followed by the second "Rurouni Kenshin: The Great Fire of Kyoto" and the third "Rurouni Kenshin: The Last Days of the Legend", both of which were released in 2014.

The final two parts of the film, "Rurouni Kenshin: The Final" and "Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning" will be released on July 3 and August 7, 2020, respectively. The main cast will continue to include Takeru Sato as Kenshin Himura, Emi Takei as Kaoru Kamiya, Takataka Aoki as Sanosuke Sagara, and Yu Aoi as Megumi Takani.

Saito Hajime is the former leader of the Shinsengumi's third squadron. He is a man who survived the upheavals of the end of the Edo period together with his old enemy Kenshin, and has a belief in the justice of "evil, quick and clean. He and Kenshin have a history, but they begin to go their separate ways in a new era, but he finds himself back in the fray with Kenshin in the face of a new threat.

Eight years have passed since the first film, and this is finally the final chapter in the series. Eguchi commented on his role as Hajime Saito, saying, "It's not every day that I get to play the same role for so many years, so it's a great honor for me. On the other hand, it is a character that I have built up over the years, so I can't escape from it, and the fact that I can't just do whatever I want makes it difficult. It was especially difficult this time because it took more than half a year to shoot the film, and I had to maintain a sense of tension throughout that time, but when I thought that all the images we shot would be connected, I was convinced that this would be an extraordinary film (laughs).

He also commented on the filming of "The Final" and "The Beginning," saying, "I used a lot of energy. That is because "The Final" and "The Beginning" are completely different stories and eras, so the phrasing and tone of the dialogues are also different. The storyline and time period of "The Final" and "The Beginning" are completely different, so the dialogue and tone of "The Final" and "The Beginning" are different. I think the range of the two films is worth seeing if you watch them in succession," he said, commenting on the conflicts between Kenshin and Saito depicted in the two eras.
