The real estate and housing information website "SUUMO" is currently offering "SUUMO Taxi" rides for a limited two-week period from February 14 (Fri.) to February 27 (Thu.), 2020, for a fee of zero yen.

The "Sumo Taxi" is a cab with the specifications of the original "SUUMO" character, and can be used free of charge only when getting on and off within the 23 wards of Tokyo. The eye-catching green color is wonderful! I like that it has a large drawing of Mr. Sumo on the side of the car, so you can instantly tell it's a "Sumo Taxi. When I peeked inside, I was surprised to see a kotatsu, even though it is a car!

──What were your impressions of riding in a Sumo Taxi?
The green seats were spacious and relaxing. The kotatsu was facing us, so we looked at each other the whole time we were riding in the taxi (laughs). (Laughs) I kept touching the green fuzz on the ceiling, thinking, "Oh, this is the fur of Mr. Sumo. The ceiling and seats were green, so I felt as if I had stepped into Sumo. I have always wanted to ride on a "cat bus" like the one in a certain animated film, and I think I was able to experience something a little closer to it (laughs).


─ What do you recommend Sumo Taxi?
First of all, I was surprised that the fare was free.
The interior is so cute, you feel like a princess. I wish the taxi would run not only for two weeks, but all the time!


─ I think the Sumo Taxi you rode in had a kotatsu, but do you have a kotatsu in your room?
When I was a child, we always had a kotatsu in my parents' house in the winter, so it reminded me of that and made me feel warm and cozy. I don't have a kotatsu in the house I live in now. I would like to put it there someday, but I think it would slow down the pace of my daily work. Going to get a drink or taking a bath would be a hassle. I think of it as the "devil's table" (laughs).


─ I heard that you often travel by cab.
I once took a cab to go out to dinner with a friend who was a competitor, and the driver was a serious fan. He said, "Um, are you Mr. Taketatsu by any chance? I'm going to see your live concert next month! I'm looking forward to it.


─ Please tell us about your ideal room.
I would like a spacious kitchen with a three-burner stove. I cook a lot these days, but I'm not very good at it.
I'm not very good at cooking, so if the kitchen is too small, it becomes a mess very quickly. If the kitchen is spacious, I can put various ingredients on it and clean up smoothly. The house I live in now has a three-burner stove.
However, I have not yet mastered the use of it. However, I still haven't mastered the use of them yet... (laughs)


───How did you spend your first Valentine's Day in 2025?
It was for work, but I did make chocolates. I made truffles, and I was very particular about the decorations. Of course, I gave them to my husband! But I think I ate more than half of them myself just to taste them (laughs).


─ ─ Finally, could you give a message to your fans?
There are only three Sumo Taxis in Tokyo, and they are very rare. I hope you will try it at least once. You will be lucky if you can find one with a "Kotatsu" (a table with a heater).
