The invincible machine that became a flame by combining two fires is now available as a plastic kit! I made "1/1000 Gunbuster"! The weekend plastic model kit of voice actor Yasuyuki Tai! Vol.12]
When you are a working adult, you tend to have a lot of plastic models piled up in your busy life. ...... In this series, Yasuyuki Tai, a voice actor who loves robots and plastic models, takes on the challenge of building plastic models on your behalf!
The concept is "even busy working people can make it this far on their weekends off. There are only two rules: bare bones assembly and a production period of one to two days! If you read this series, you will surely find the plastic model you want to build.
So, "Weekend Plastic Model Making by Voice Actor Taiyuki! Let's start the 12th issue!
Part 12: 1/1000 Gunbuster
Aoshima Bunka Kyozai Sha (Aoshima), one of my favorite model makers from long time ago, has come up with a new model, the "1/1000 Gunbuster!
Aoshima Bunkakkyozai-sha ( Aoshima), one of my all-time favorite model makers, has released a plastic kit of the "1/1000Gunbuster!
Aoshima has been especially hot in developing character kits recently. Aoshima's kits that I have come in contact with so far include the "Combination Series" examples featured in the mook book "Outsider Plastic Model Art: The Extraordinary Imagination of Aoshima Bunka Kyozai-sha," the "Neon Genesis GPX Cyber Formula" series, and the "Net Runner" online information magazine. Chinese Cannon, which was a supplement to the online magazine "Netrunner". Other kits included the "Invincible Superhero Zambot 3" and other Sunrise character kits, but this Gunbuster is far more complete than the robot character kits that have been released in the past! Aoshima is a little different these days.
First of all, the package. The impressive Gunbuster is posed with his arms folded!
Even though the robot is 1/1000 scale, there are a good number of runners for such a large robot! There are some extravagant parts with only one part per runner.
And then there are foil stickers and assembly instructions.
No glue is required to assemble the "PACHI! kit!
Some parts are under-gated, which makes gate marks less noticeable.
Be careful with the "K" runner. There are two sets of runners of the exact same shape in two colors, and the explanation for the parts that use the gray runner has a "G" in front of the number. It is not impossible to assemble it by mistake, but some color combinations will be different from the original appearance.
Now, let's assemble it up to the point before applying the stickers, being careful not to break the sharp parts!
Yes, I know, I'm not sure how to do it! It took about four and a half hours up to this point. There are three types of wrists, one for each side.
First, let's take a look at the entire figure in this state.
Even without stickers, you can probably get a sense of the volume of the figure!
The silhouette of the Gunbuster is this huge shoulder unit. It has been reproduced with great presence in this kit.
Looking at it in its unassembled state, I think it is easy to see how much color separation has been done by dividing the parts.
Now let's apply the stickers. I used tweezers to apply them. As a precaution, you should think carefully about where the reference should be aligned before applying the stickers to the curved surfaces of the forearms and legs.
For the forearms, remove the oval orange parts once and paste them so that they do not overlap the connection holes. The area around the wrists and ankles may be a little more difficult, but only carefully.
Other parts are not so difficult, but be careful not to apply the stickers incorrectly!
Once the foil stickers are applied to the entire body, the result is as shown here! The colors are perfectly complementary.
The powerful style of the figure is reproduced without any extreme sink marks!
The booster on the back is also color-coded with stickers.
The back is also massive!
The inside of the shoulder blocks are also color-coded with stickers. The sharpness of the head is top level among character kits! The eyes and antennae are luxurious, with one runner per part.
Stickers are also used behind the head antenna and on the chest.
This volume! He is so muscular!
The chest is made up of multiple overlapping plate-like parts. The three-dimensional effect is wonderful! The inside of the torso is packed with frame parts for movable shoulders. The characteristic joint covers with vertical lines are also reproduced with plastic parts. A decade ago, this would have been done with rubber parts, but that would have discolored the plastic. However, it is said that this material is difficult to use because it may discolor the plastic.
The booster has a simple structure with a small number of parts.
The arm armor is divided into four parts for the deployment gimmick.
The black parts of the waist are stickers.
The leg armor is also divided into four parts for the deployment gimmick. It is easy to mistake the side parts of the knees as being in the front, but the correct position is like this.
Despite the simplicity of the design, the Gunbuster is easily recognizable at a glance.
The neck can be extended and retracted vertically, and the base of the neck can be raised and lowered. In addition, the base of the neck moves up and down.
The head can be moved up, down, left and right like this. Be careful of the sharp parts when moving the head. I'm sorry ...... that I accidentally touched the right side corner parts.
The shoulder parts are independent from the arms. Thanks to the slight movement of this part, the arms can be raised horizontally about 90 degrees.
The panels on the front and back of the shoulders can be raised, so they can also be raised back and forth about 90 degrees.
The elbows are double-jointed with a pull-out mechanism!
The elbows are double-jointed and can be bent up to this level.
The base of the wrists are ball-jointed for smooth movement.
The base of the shoulders can swing forward.
The back side has a part that hides the gap as shown here!
The abdomen is ball-jointed and movable as shown.
The lower body is connected to the shaft, so when combined with the movable ball joint under the chest, the figure can twist quite a bit.
The hip joint also has a range of motion, and the position of the base can be moved. As shown in the image on the right, the base can be moved downward,
If the waist part is removed, the legs can be raised to a considerable height,
With the waist part attached, the legs can be raised to this height. Moves well beyond its design.
Rotation axis on the thigh.
The knees are also double-jointed with the same pull-out mechanism as the elbows.
The knees can be bent to this height when pulled out.
The parts on the outside of the knee can be raised as shown.
The ankles are ball-jointed. They can be rotated and the angle can be adjusted up to this level.
Seeing is believing! Let's take a look at the action photos to see just how movable this Gunbuster is, including the other parts that we haven't fully shown you. Let's see it in action photos!
Crew "Captain!"
Captain "What is it?"
Crew "The seventh hatch is open!"
Captain "What the hell?"
Ding dong ding dong ding dong ding dong ・・・・・
Cha-cha-cha-cha-cha-cha...
Noriko "Launch!
Gwonk!
Noriko "Buster!
Beam!"
Noriko "I'll try!"
So far, this is the battle scene when Noriko was riding alone!
And then,
Gambuster that became a flame!
Noriko & Kazumi "Gun!
BASS!
Taaaaah!"
Ja-kee-kee-kee!
Noriko: "I'll use that one, sister."
Kazumi "Yes, well."
Noriko: "Woah!"
Replaces the molded part of the caterpillar on the back of the foot.
Noriko "Supaaaah!"
Kazumi "Inazumaaaa!"
They"Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"
Noriko "Ho-ohming!
Rhee.
Zaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"
Kazumi "Hah!"
(*Substituted the space monster with a plate)
Noriko "Down there too!
Noriko "Double bustaaa Kore daaaa!"
By deploying the armored parts of both arms and legs, and connecting the Koreder parts to the back side, Buster Koreder can be reproduced!
Noriko "Your sister's life, leave it to me!"
Reproduction of the scene where the chest armor of the Gunbuster is removed to activate Buster Machine No. 3 (black hole bomb). However, the inside of the chest armor is not reproduced, so this is as far as we can go!
Here is a little extra element.
The inner panels of both shoulder parts can be removed.
Inside the panels are the Buster Shield, Buster Homerun, and Buster Tomahawk. It's a fine trick!
In addition, wrist parts with slightly opened fingers are also provided.
This time, I inked the joint parts with 0.05mm Pigma.
The yellow and orange parts in particular are easy to see.
For this posing photo, I used two joint supports.
The first is the part behind the waist. There are also parts for displaying the figure on a commercially available stand. This part can be switched by reassembling.
If you remove the lower part of the waist, you can also attach a commercially available stand directly below it.
So, what do you think of the 1/1000 scale "Gunbuster" that emphasizes style and mobility? I, too, was quite surprised when I actually moved it. At the end of 2019, I was building a lot of kits for the "Densetsu Kyojin Ideon" that was released by Aoshima at the time of its broadcast, so I was able to experience firsthand the 40-year passage of time and the evolution of Aoshima's movable kits.
What can I say?
Okaerinasai (the "y" is reversed)
I feel like "Okaerinasai" (the "y" is reversed). I was surprised at the time when the kit was announced, "Is this the current Aoshima's character kit? Gunbuster was a surprise to me. I am very much looking forward to seeing what kind of character kits Aoshima will make in the future.
I am personally familiar with Aoshima's kits, and in the past I built Aoshima's original character " Red Hawk Yamato" using etching parts for ship models. I would like to build it again.
In addition, I am very happy that the plastic kit development of "Neon Genesis GPX Cyber Formula" is currently being revived and that variations of the " AsradaG.S.X." are being released one after another.
Also, in recent years, model manufacturers have been developing original character kits, and I would like to see the revival of something like "Atlanger" at this time!
See you next time! See you next time!
