We take a closer look at the charms of Haruhime, the fragile and lovely Lunar (fox person), an important heroine in the second half of "Danmachi II! Interview with Haruka Chisuga, who plays Haruhime

Danmachi II," or "It's Wrong to Seek Encounters in Dungeons II," which started in July, is now in its final stages. The story, which began in episode 6 and is set in Ishtar Familia, a pleasure town for prostitutes, reaches its climax in episode 10.
It all started when Yamato Mei, now a member of Hestia Familia, hears that a childhood friend from her hometown is in Ishtar Familia, the city of prostitutes, and goes there to find out if it is true. Belle, feeling like a devil's advocate, follows Welf and Lili, but they get lost in the city and are captured by the Ishtar Familia. On their way out of the city, Belle happens to meet a Lunar Princess Haruhime, and the two become friends because of their mutual love of heroic tales. This Haruhime is Yamato Mei's childhood friend who was originally of noble birth, but was forced to work as a prostitute for Ishtar Familia through human trafficking.
Knowing this, Belle tries to help Haruhime out of Ishtar Familia by lending her life, but Haruhime seems to reject her "extended hand" somehow. Her true intentions, the killing stones involved, and the harsh fate of her power .......
Haruka Sensuga, who plays Haruhime, the main heroine of this serious and sad story, spoke to us about the appeal of the character Haruhime and the highlights of the drama in episodes 6 to 9.

Haruhime is a girl who locks herself in her true feelings

─ Did you audition for the role of Haruhime?

Chisuge: I was told about the role when Haruhime appeared in the social game "Danmachi -Cross Istria-". So it was not an audition. When I first saw the character Haruhime, I thought she was a very cute character with a very gentle Japanese style.

─ Haruhime is characterized by her fox ears and fox tail, isn't she?

Chisuge: That part is so cute that I am at a loss for vocabulary!　I don't know what to say. (Laughs).


(laughs) ─ ─ No, I don't know if I can answer that (laughs).

Chisuge: One of the charms of "Danmachi" is how cute the beasts are. In "Cross Istria," there was only one illustration, but I was really looking forward to seeing how the chemo-ears and tails would move in the anime. The tails are so fluffy, I can't get enough of them!

──How was it acting in the anime?

Chisuge: She meets Belle when she has closed her heart or has given up on her destiny, so I wanted her to be happy when I saw her melancholy and resigned. The way she changes after meeting Belle is something that could only happen in an anime story with dialogue, so my impression of her from the game has deepened even further.

─ Were you conscious of the feeling of being a bit unlucky when you were playing the role?

Chisuge: Yes, I was. Especially in the beginning (episode 6). I think she has given up on the future. However, it is as if he is covering up his sadness. ...... So, I thought that somewhere in her heart, she does not want to give up, and that is why she says to herself, "I have already given up," so I played that part with great importance.

─ In that sense, is it like you are hiding your true feelings and accepting your current situation?

Chisuge: That's why when she confided to Belle that she liked the old tales of heroes, I felt like I unlocked a key to Haruhime's heart, and that really lifted my spirits. Besides, that was the real Haruhime. In other scenes, Haruhime is reluctant to show her true feelings, or rather, she keeps her true feelings locked up. I was very conscious of the difference between these scenes and those in which her true feelings come out.


───Did you play the scene in episode 6 where you talk about your adventures with a lot of tension?

Chisuge: The tension was high, but I felt relaxed. In the entertainment district ruled by Ishtar, which is the setting from episode 6, I felt a sense of tension, and I could tell that Haruhime herself is not very good at working as a prostitute, so in that sense, she looked nervous when Belle-kun entered the room, but she was happy to be able to talk about the heroic tale, I was also conscious of the sense of relaxation.

───Although Haruhime is a prostitute, I found it amusing that she fainted at the mere sight of Belle's collarbone.

Chisuge: That was a surprise, wasn't it? (Laughs) It was a great combination of "ubu x ubu" and I can't even describe it. ...... (Laughs) (Laughs.) It was fun for me too.

─ ─ Hestia and Lili are carnivorous when it comes to Belle, .......

Chisuge: That's pretty much what I think. Since "Danmachi" itself is a story about adventurers, there are many characters whose mental or physical "strength" comes out, but I thought Haruhime had a different kind of charm. But her collarbone would normally be visible if she were wearing a T-shirt (laughs). (Laughs.) It is not common in this work for a woman to faint from such a scene. That scene is very memorable. I was told to say "Kyu~" when I fainted in a cute way (laugh).


─ ─ Until episode 9, that scene was the only time we could see Haruhime like that, wasn't it?

Chisuge: Yes, that was the case. Basically, the tension builds toward episode 9.
