What scene made director Yoshiyuki Tomino cry? Report on the second day of the stage greeting for the theater version of "G Reconguista II: Berri Gekishin"!
Director Yoshiyuki Tomino's latest film, "G Reconguista II: Berri Gekishin" opened in theaters on February 21, 2020 (Friday), and on the second day, February 22 (Saturday), a stage greeting was held at Shinjuku Piccadilly with Director Tomino on stage.
Gundam G Reconguista" (26 episodes), which aired on TV in 2014, has been re-edited and new cuts have been added to the film version (5 parts). The second part is "G no Reconguista II: Berri Gekishin" which will be screened this time.
On the second day of its release, a stage greeting was held after the first screening at Shinjuku Piccadilly. In addition to director Yoshiyuki Tomino, Takuya Sato (Mask), Ayaka Takagaki (Manny Ambasada), Mai Nakahara (Ballara Peor), Takeshi Koyama (Delensen Samatar), and Keiji Himeno (Becker Shaddam) were on stage. The Capital Army, key characters in the second part of the drama, were all present.
After the screening, the stage greeting began with Director Tomino's radical comment, "I was pissed off when the song by Doricum played (as the speakers entered the auditorium). However, he said the reason for this was out of rivalry, saying that he was inspired by the song and that he had to make a movie that would not be outdone by the song. The audience was excited to hear Tomino's lyrics as soon as the show started.
As for the cast members, this was the first time for Koyama, Nakahara, and Himeno to appear on stage for "G RECO. Koyama, who made his debut as an anime voice actor in 1999 with director Tomino's "Turn A Gundam," said he was "overwhelmed with emotion" at the prospect of "G RECO" becoming a movie.
Mr. HIMENO, who plays the role of Becker, was introduced by Director Tomino as "the main character of this movie," and he seemed to be very nervous. He also shared a behind-the-scenes story about the postrecording process.
Mr. Himeno, who said he did not know if Becker was really popular, asked the audience, "Who likes Becker? When he asked the audience if Becker was really popular, he was greeted with thunderous applause.
According to Director Tomino, "Becker will continue to play an active role until Part 5. We will be keeping an eye on Ms. Himeno's passionate performance.
Ms. Nakahara, who plays Balara in the film, is involved in a love triangle with Mask and Manny, and she said, "I am honored to be able to speak with this lineup (Takagaki, Sato, and Nakahara)," which drew a laugh.
As this comment suggests, one of the highlights of "G Reconguista II: Belli, the Shootout" is the gender games between Mask, Manny, and Balara.
When the moderator asked, "Isn't the natural distance between Balara and Mask irritating from Manny's point of view?" When asked by the moderator if the natural distance between Balara and Mask annoyed Manny, Takagaki replied that the scene where Mask shouts Balara's name "annoyed me. Nakahara replied, "From my point of view, I was having a good time with [the mask], but then you came in on your own. Mr. Sato, caught between the two beauties, nodded his head and simply commented, "What (the mask) says and does is exactly as scripted.Director Tomino laughed at this exchange, and talked about the difficulties of production, saying, "I wonder how much thought went into making a scene like the one you just saw. The most memorable scene is when Bharara gets out of the mobile suit and Mask reaches out his hand to support her leg. It was the first time in my 50 years of experience that I was able to create a scene in which I could explain everything in just that one scene," he said.
Incidentally, Director Tomino said, "Balara is the best woman in 'G Reco. She has a good attitude in the fourth and fifth parts of the series." Nakahara responded by saying, "She is a woman who is convenient for men. The director, as one would expect, could only laugh at this.
At any rate, according to Director Tomino, "If you watch the fifth part, you will see that Manny and Balara are in their proper positions," so he hopes that viewers will look forward to seeing the film.
In "G Reconguista II: Berri Shoots Down," Berri shoots down her instructor, Mr. Dellensen, in a shocking turn of events. But in this movie version, he played the role with only a simple feeling of surprise.
The nuances of his performance, which are different from those in the TV series, are also worth paying attention to.
The topic then turned to the theme song "G" by Dream Comes True (hereinafter referred to as "Dream Comes True"). Director Tomino mentioned that the video for the ending theme song "G" was created at the very last minute, while waiting for the song to be completed.
He commented, "I wanted to create something that would not lose out to (vocalist Miwa) Yoshida's voice," "If I had had time and created the entire ending video by editing the existing footage, it would have definitely lost (to the song)," and "I had to do that so that the picture would not lose to the momentum of the music. He commented, "I had to do that in order for the pictures not to lose the momentum of the music. He added, "Miwa Yoshida's lyrics are amazing. She wrote the lyrics after doing a tremendous amount of research on "G-RECO. She didn't do it just as a contractor.
Finally, Director Tomino commented on the third and subsequent parts of the film, scheduled for release in the fall of 2020, saying, "I hope to formulate something that raises the bar so that we don't lose out to Dorikam. If we continue with our current schedule, we can make it to Part 5 without Miwa Yoshida getting mad at us.
