Kitamura, Matsuzaka, and Hamabe made a surprise appearance on stage at the outdoor screening of the animated film "HELLO WORLD," which was held despite the rain and lightning!

A red carpet event for the theatrical anime "HELLO WORLD," scheduled to open in theaters on Friday, September 20, was held on Wednesday, September 11, at Higashi Honganji Temple with Kyoto Tower, synonymous with Kyoto, in the background.

The theatrical animation "HELLO WORLD" is the first original theatrical animation directed by Tomohiko Ito, the director of "SWORD ART ONLINE THE MOVIE: ODINAL SCALE," which grossed over 2.5 billion yen at the box office (4.3 billion yen worldwide). The script was written by Mado Nozaki of "Correct to Kill" fame, character design by Yukiko Horiguchi of "K-ON! (K-ON!) for character design, and Graphinica (Rakuenbanban) for animation production. Naomi Katagaki, a shy high school student living in Kyoto, will be played by Shomi Kitamura, who has longed to be a voice actor since childhood and is now making her "first try" as a voice actor. The two form a strange buddy team, one from the present and the other from the future, as they struggle to save the life of Ruri Ichigyo, played by Minami Hamabe, who is about to die in the future. The film is a "new and innovative high-speed science fiction coming-of-age love story" that is perfect for the start of a new generation.

⇒Schedule of Anime Film Screening

On September 11 (Wed.), an outdoor screening of the animated film "HELLO WORLD" was held at Higashi Honganji Temple with Kyoto Tower, synonymous with Kyoto, in the background, and the main cast members Shoumi Kitamura, Momori Matsuzaka, and Minami Hamabe appeared.

The outdoor screening was held for the first time in the 400-year history of Higashi Honganji Temple on a giant screen measuring 5.5m (H) x 10m (W) set up on the temple grounds, with Kyoto Tower, a synonym for Kyoto, in the background.

The red carpet event held just before the screening was a great success, with the general public allowed to take pictures in the pouring rain for the 1,500 people who gathered for the event.

The three cast members, who took the stage amidst screams of joy at the sudden surprise, each worried about the cold of the audience who were left drenched by the rain, but could not hide their excitement at the audience that filled the 1500 seats prepared for the event and talked with the audience who had just seen the film.

The following are comments from the cast.

■Takumi Kitamura
(Looking at the audience of 1,500 people) I didn't realize that so many people had stayed! I am very moved. It is not often that I get to experience such a big event, and I was really happy that it was my first "hello world" as a voice actor, so I decided to work even harder so that more and more people can see this work.
(About what I had a hard time doing this time) There is a line in the script that says "Uhi," and it was hard for me to use my voice, which I don't usually use. But I recorded a lot of "uhii" because it appears in various scenes, but when I saw the finished film, it was only one line, which was a big help because I wasn't confident in my "uhii" at all (laugh).

■Tomori Matsuzaka
Thank you all so much for staying until the end, even though it was raining from the red carpet to the outdoor screening! Personally, I thought it went by so fast when I watched it because it is filled with various anime elements.
This time the recording was prescreened, which means there were no pictures when we added our voices, and it was very difficult to imagine and add our voices relying on the script's notes, lines, and the director's words.
One of the differences from live acting is that when the actor says something shocking to the audience, we have to add a reaction like "aha" in response. I see...I need to use my voice here.

Minami Hamabe
It had been raining all day and the weather was not good, so I thought "not many people would stay for the outdoor screening..." But when I actually went up on stage, I was really happy to see so many people there. We were also at Higashi Honganji Temple during the screening and could hear the sound of the film being shown, and the sound was very beautiful, so I think the audience enjoyed the screening.
(In response to Mr. Kitamura's "uhi" story, I would say "huh". It's a line you say when you faint, and I don't think I would have fainted if I had time to say it... (laughs). Even after watching the completed film, I still think, "Hmmm... that's how it's supposed to be.
