Gundam 40th FES. "LIVE-BEYOND"" DAY1 Report Gundam 40th FES. "LIVE-BEYOND" DAY1 Report

In 2019, 40 years after the broadcast of the first TV series "Mobile Suit Gundam," Gundam's first all-time best festival "GUNDAM 40th FES. The following is a report on Day 1 of the festival on September 7. Here is a report on DAY 1 on September 7.

LUNA SEA, Hiroko Moriguchi, SKY-HI, DJ Shazer a.k.a. DJ Caesar, TECHNOBOYS PULCRAFT GREEN-FUND feat.

As the show began, the stage was lit up with blue lights and images of Gundam works from the past were shown on the stage, counting up the years from 1979, the beginning of the show, to the present day. The screen was soon filled with images of "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin," a new interpretation of the One Year War, the origin of Gundam, with Char Aznable, known as the Red Comet, as the central character.

The stage was darkened, and LUNA SEA, the surprise top performer, appeared on stage. The stage was lit up, and the audience was mesmerized by the red color of the stage. As the stage was lit up, the audience's psyllium was dyed in deep red.

The song "Space Poem: Higher and Higher" opened the show, with RYUICHI's voice spinning the impressive words of the lyrics into fragments that fell into the anime images. The overlap of Guilen Zabi's speech and Dozuru Zabi's tears in the phrase "Which is justice?

One of the unique features of this festival was that the audience included many SLAVE (fans) who love LUNA SEA. Instead of psyllium, they were cheering in the style of 90's visual-kei bands, mainly using hand fans dedicated to the stage. It was very nice to see the past SLAVEs cheering respectfully for all the artists, as if they were mirrors of the artists themselves.

The song "Tragic Beauty" is a slow but graceful ballad. The sunglasses that RYUICHI was wearing on the screen was a tribute to Char. On the screen, many famous scenes were shown, such as the scene where Lala Sun intervenes in the fierce battle between Amuro and Char, and the white hand-to-hand combat between Amuro and Char. The sad but beautiful battle between the Newtypes who communicate with each other in battle.

RYUICHI, who told the MC, "I was excited that SUGIZO was going to be in charge of the music, and LUNA SEA was chosen to do it," said happily that he wanted to seriously build the Gunpla models he made as a child again.

BEYOND THE TIME ~Beyond the Universe of Mobius~" is LUNA SEA's cover of the theme song sung by TM NETWORK for the movie version of "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char of the Counterattack" (1988). From the beginning, RYUICHI's sweet and emotional vocals swelled, and the song was firmly in the LUNA SEA sound. To my surprise, the psyllium at the venue immediately turned green. The psylliums were green to represent the green light emitted by the psycho-frame in the movie "Char of the Counterattack. The audience's reaction was quicker than the green color of the screen and stage direction.

The next song was "THE BEYOND," LUNA SEA's dedication to the 40th anniversary of Gundam. Shinya's delicate drum play like a ripple was very impressive when the band's sound quieted down after the vocalist was brought forward. After finishing the song, RYUICHI opened his arms as if to embrace the long history, the story, and all of the audience's feelings.

It came as a surprise to everyone that RYUICHI brought LUNA SEA's signature song "ROSIER" for the last number, as he talked about the song's birth pains, the various struggles in the band's early days, and its connection to the story depicted in Gundam. SUGIZO's superbly crafted guitar riffs and J's screaming, high-speed English lyrics echoed through the hall. The way they became one with the audience, sometimes yielding the microphone to the audience, was a strong symbol of the '90s era of the music.

SKY-HI's next performance started with a daring challenge: a free-style freestyle rap performance based on the theme of "Char of the Counterattack. This performance was created at SKY-HI's own suggestion, and it was refreshing to see Char's line "Don't do anything stupid" cut in during the rap.

From "Diver's High," the video world turned into "Gundam Build Divers. The stylish rap and computer graphics images of a cyber space showed the difference in the generations of the works, as well as the 40 years Gundam has spent in the world and the expansion of the work space. In "Double Down," the fractal mandala of images and the waves of high-tension vocals transported the audience to another world. Paradise Has No Border -SKY-HI Remix-" was a gorgeous sound that at first glance reminded the audience of Sukapala, but with SKY-HI's unique taste. The last number was "Snatchaway. The lighthearted and uplifting performance showed the variety of SKY-HI's talents.

DJ Caesar was dressed in the costume of Char Aznable, and DJ Caesar was the DJ of the night. The atmosphere may have been a little away from the audience when DJ Scherzer himself sang "Char is Coming" along with images of Char on the screen. As a side note, the commercial eye-catching sound of "Denden de denden, sha! commercial eye-catching sound, which was also used on this stage, is said to have no particular relation to Shah.

However, "Shining in the storm", "FLYING IN THE SKY", "Anime nai nai -Old earthlings who forgot their dreams-", "RHYTHM EMOTION", "Realize", "We were so together", "Fleeting but eternal Kanasi", "AURORA", "STAND UP TO THE VICTORY~. To the Victory~," "Raise your flag," "RAGE OF DUST," and many other famous songs, I began to feel that this section was a necessary time to cover the 40 years of Gundam. The DJ time, with original images and sounds of each work, sometimes with dialogues, was very extravagant. Dancers and psyllium performers also appeared on stage from the middle of the show, providing entertainment befitting a convention center.

When Hiroko Moriguchi began to sing "Ai wo Hoshi e Ai wo Komete" (With Love to the Water Stars) in a pure white dress, the entire venue was filled with an air of "I've been waiting for you! The entire audience was in a state of "I've been waiting for you! The way she captivated the audience with minimal staging that specialized in making the audience listen to her singing voice was almost sublime. Moriguchi-san was thrilled to be welcomed by a sea of blue psyllium.

Next, they performed "Freesia" from the Gundam song cover album "Gundam Song Covers. Purple lights and white lasers painted freesia flowers on the campus of Moriguchi-san's dress. Satoshi Shioya's beautiful piano melody accompanied her overwhelming singing ability and expressiveness. Reflecting on the recording of the cover song, Ms. Moriguchi said, "I thought all of the Heisei Gundam songs were wonderful.

The next song was "ETERNAL WIND ~Hohoemi wa Hikaru Kaze no Naka~", a great song from "Mobile Suit Gundam F91", followed by the latest "Mobile Suit Gundam The ORIGIN IV: Eve of Destiny" theme song "Beyond the Universe". The power of his live singing voice, full of history and experience, and the variety of experience he showed in his flowing MC. It was a stage that showed the strength of Hiroko Moriguchi as an expressive artist.

TECHNOBOYS PULCRAFT GREEN-FUND feat! Gundam" and "Meguriai," the audience was able to enjoy the encounter between the light and refreshing arrangement of the sound and the positive and powerful vocals of Diceke Hasegawa. The images of the original "Mobile Suit Gundam" projected on the screen also added to the flavor of the performance. The song "Meguriai" brought out a unique sexiness in his singing voice, and the powerful pressure of "Now! is very interesting and has the Hasegawa-Disuke flavor.

Speaking of Diceke Hasegawa, "Gundam G no Reconguista" ED theme "G no Senkou (G's Flash)" is his most famous song. This time, the song was arranged live with the chorus at the beginning. Hasegawa sang a cappella the first chorus of the song, which was full of emotion, and the magnificent arrangement of the sound accompanied the song.

At this point, Ira Yuki appeared as a secret vocalist and sang "Mirai no Pattern", the theme song of "Mobile Suit Gundam AGE MEMORY OF EDEN". It was fantastic to see Ms. Yuki singing against the backdrop of stars with smoke in the air. In this song, TECHNOBOYS PULCRAFT GREEN-FUND created a magnificent world with live instruments. Mr. Yuki and Yohei Matsui of TECHNOBOYS PULCRAFT GREEN-FUND were deeply moved by the fact that they were finally able to sing this song live, which was created in 2013.

For TECHNOBOYS PULCRAFT GREEN-FUND's last number "JUST COMMUNICATION," Hiroko Moriguchi appeared again as a secret vocalist. Her beautiful voice echoed with the urban and adult arranged sound. The members of TECHNOBOYS PULCRAFT GREEN-FUND, who are from the generation directly affected by "Mobile Suit Z Gundam," for which Ms. Moriguchi sang the theme song, were very impressed by the fans' viewpoint during the MC.

As the video of "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED" played in the background, T.M.Revolution, the last performer of the night, appeared from a pop-up in the center of the stage. They performed "Mobile Suit Gundam Seed MSV" theme song "Zips" and "Ignited" seamlessly. Nishikawa's cover of "Ai Senshi" in the style of Takanori made the audience laugh, "This is the first time I'm performing as TMR this year, so I was worried if I could say I was T.M. Revolution," but it was clear that this stage was very special for him.

At this point, Hiroyuki Sawano, who was scheduled to perform on DAY 2, appeared on stage as a surprise guest. A gorgeous session of piano by Mr. Sawano and vocals by Mr. Nishikawa ensued. From the impressive silence at the end of "Beginning," which was cut off roughly and gracefully, to "Vigilante," a "riotous one.

Sawano-san and Nishikawa-san, who showed their dream collaboration, talked about their dreams of working together on Gundam productions in the future. At this point, Mr. Nishikawa introduced the words of a person involved that the movie version of "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED" is still in motion. Ms. Nishikawa's own eagerness to see the movie version and her strong will to build up the momentum of the fans and work together for the movie version was evident. The last number was Nishikawa's words, "Let's strongly pray for its completion with this song! and the last number was "INVOKE", the OP theme of the TV animation "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED"! Nishikawa-san called for the audience to sing along, and closed the first day of the Gundam 40th Anniversary Music Festival with a chorus that united Makuhari Messe as one.
