The Konami Command is a secret command discovered in the NES version of "Gradius" that, when successfully entered, powers up the Big Viper. It is the most famous backdoor command in the world, and has appeared in many Konami games since this game, and has also been used in games made by other companies.
In an interview before his death, Mr. Hashimoto revealed that the reason why this command was created in the first place was because "Gradius" was so difficult that he himself had planted the hidden command with the intention of using it.

Konami's official international Twitter account also commented on the news.

Rest in Peace.
