The world's most beloved Pokémon of the year has been determined! The results of the "Pokémon of the Year" award, which collected 6,608,215 votes, are announced!

Pokémon Inc. designated February 27, the day "Pokémon Red and Green" were released in 1996, as "Pokémon Day" and received certification from the Japan Anniversary Association. The results of "Pokémon of the Year," a voting project held in commemoration of this event to determine the Pokémon most loved around the world during the past year, were announced at around 11:00 p.m. on February 27, 2020.

Pokémon of the Year" is the first voting project for Pokémon introduced up to "Pokémon Sword Shield". Voting was accepted in eight languages (Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Korean, and Traditional Chinese). Votes were cast for all 890 eligible Pokémon, with a total of 6,608,215 votes cast over the 10-day period.

Gekkoga won first place in this voting project. It received 140,559 votes, 38,300 votes ahead of second-place Lucario. The first 10 places in the overall ranking are as follows.
