Ono Fuyumi's "Twelve Kingdoms" series, which has sold 2.54 million copies in new editions and more than 12 million copies in total, won the "5th Eiji Yoshikawa Bunko Award"!

The best-selling fantasy series "The Twelve Kingdoms" by Ms. Ono Miyumi won the "5th Eiji Yoshikawa Bunko Award".

The "Twelve Kingdoms" series is a best-selling fantasy series by Ms. Ono, which started in 1991 with the publication of "The Devil's Child" (Shincho Bunko). It is an epic fantasy set in the "Twelve Kingdoms," an alternate world that is connected to the world we live in, and at the same time, it is a mystery filled with many mysteries.

The Eiji Yoshikawa Foundation for the Promotion of National Culture has announced that the "Twelve Kingdoms" series has won the "Fifth Eiji Yoshikawa Library Award.


The Eiji Yoshikawa Bunko Award, established in 2016 under the auspices of the foundation and supported by Kodansha, is given to the most outstanding popular series of literary works from a series of five or more volumes published between December 1 of each year and November 30 of the following year. The award was selected from 15 nominees by a vote of about 50 members of the selection committee.

The four-volume "Shirogane no oka kuro no tsuki" (Shincho Bunko), published in October and November last year, is the first new work in the "Twelve Kingdoms" series in 18 years, and since its publication at the end of the year before last, it has received a great response on the web. In just one month after publication, the total number of copies sold exceeded 2,545,000, and the total for the series topped 12 million copies (including those published by Kodansha). The "Twelve Kingdoms" series, which has become a social phenomenon, also won the "Yahoo! Search Awards 2019" in the novel category.
