OBSOLETE," a completely original full CG animation written and composed by Gen Urobuchi (Nitroplus ) and produced by the up-and-coming CG animation studio Takeemon, will be distributed on YouTube as "YouTube Originals" from December 2019. OBSOLETE" is a completely original full CG animation film created by up-and-coming CG animation studio Takeemon, with the original idea and series composition by Gen UROBUCHI (Nitroplus), a genius who has created numerous hit movies. This realistic robot animation depicts an "if" world from the present day to the near future, in which a 2.5 meter tall consciousness-controlled general-purpose robot "Exoframe" is active. It is scheduled to be distributed as "YouTube Originals" on the YouTube Bandai Namco Arts channel from December 2019. (*Details of distribution will be announced as soon as they are determined.)
YouTube Originals is a service by YouTube that allows viewers to watch original series, movies, and events.

The story begins in 2014, when aliens suddenly appear and demand "trade" from humanity. What they brought to Earth in exchange for limestone is the Exoframe, a consciousness-controlled general-purpose robot. Cheaper than fighter planes, tanks, and guns, and easy for anyone to use, the "Exoframe" quickly spreads and changes the world.

Mr. Kyobuchi is in charge of the original idea and series composition.
The director is Hiroki Yamada, who worked as a CG designer at Studio Ghibli and Sunrise Emotion Studios before joining Takeemon in 2014 and making his directorial debut with "Kaze no Matasaburo," an entry in Anime Tamago 2016. The film is directed by Seiichi Shiratsuchi, who has worked on numerous setting design for anime, games, manga, and novels, including "Jormungandr," "The Joker Game," "The Drifters," and "Princess Principal.
The animation production will be handled by Takeemon, an animation and video production company established in 2014 with CG staff from Sunrise Nerima Studio, which produced "Steamboy," "FREEDOM," and "Short Peace," and whose main tool is computer graphics. Kaze no Matasaburo" won the Grand Prize in the Japanese Short Film Competition at the 2017 Kineko International Film Festival, and has participated in several other film festivals. This is their first film in a series.

Because of the way the operation reads human consciousness, most humans can move the "exoframe" as they move their own bodies. Research is being conducted on the source of power and how it reads human consciousness, but the details of the system are unknown, as they are beyond human scientific capabilities.
