Steam "Monster Hunter World: Iceborn" Free Major Update #2! New "Ice and Snow Zone" and "Jin'oga Subspecies" are now available!

The second free major title update for the Steam version of "Monster Hunter World: Iceborn" began distribution today, Thursday, March 12, 2020.

The "Monster Hunter" series is a hunting action game in which players face off against giant monsters in a magnificent natural setting. In "Monster Hunter: World" (hereafter, MHW), the latest title in the series, players become hunters who set foot on a "new continent" as part of a survey team and explore an unknown continent.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborn" (hereafter referred to as "MHW: IB") is a very large additional content for "MHW. In addition to depicting the world after the ending of the main story, the stage has been moved to the extremely cold "Frozen Land of Watari," where a variety of areas and monsters will appear.

In addition, "Awakening Weapons" can be obtained as a reward for this mission. Awakening Weapons are given either all weapon types or each attribute, and while there is little difference in their performance when obtained, they can be enhanced to one's liking by adding "Awakening Ability".

In order to add the Awakening Ability to an awakened weapon, it is necessary to accumulate "Awakening Value." The Awakening Value can be obtained either by "inserting Awakening Materials into an Awakening Weapon at a processor" or by "completing an emergency mission.

Once a certain amount of awakening value is accumulated, awakening abilities will be randomly expressed. The weapon will be given an awakening ability by selecting an item from the list and deciding on it.

It is also possible to accumulate without granting the awakening ability that has been expressed. If you accumulate, it will be slightly easier for a better awakening ability to appear the next time a certain amount of awakening value is accumulated.
Once an ability has been granted, it can be overwritten with a new ability. Up to five awakening abilities can be set.
Some awakening abilities and awakening abilities of special rarity cannot be duplicated.

In addition, when a certain level of awakening ability is given, the appearance of the weapon will change, for example, an aura will be generated on the weapon. Let's aim for more powerful weapons by repeating awakening.
