I thoroughly enjoyed playing with the battle machine of the earth-shaking "Super Mini-Pla Super Electromagnetic Robot Con Battler V"! The Weekend Plastic Modeling of Voice Actor Yasuyuki Tai! Part 13]

When you are a working adult, you tend to have a lot of plastic models piled up in your busy life. ...... In this series, Yasuyuki Tai, a voice actor who loves robots and plastic models, takes on the challenge of building plastic models on your behalf!

The concept is "even busy working people can make it this far on their weekends off. There are only two rules: bare bones assembly and a production period of one to two days! If you read this series, you will surely find the plastic model you want to build.

So, "Weekend Plastic Model Making by Voice Actor Taiyuki! Let's get started with the 13th installment!

Part 13: "Super Miniplat Super Electromagnetic Robot Con Battler V" Part 1

Who would have thought that a new product from an anime that began broadcasting in 1976 would be released more than 40 years later? ......

This time I would like to introduce "Con Battler V" from Bandai Candy Division's Super Mini-Pla series!

I was born in 1977, so I probably saw it on a rerun; I remember I loved it so much that I sang the theme song with it while watching TV and got so excited that I involuntarily hit my head hard on the drawer handle. But I was not even in kindergarten at the time, so I was not allowed to buy toys for myself. Other plastic models that could be combined were also available at the time, and after being re-released about 20 or 30 years ago, the plastic Con Battler V has not been available for a long time, but it has now been revived as a Shokugan!

First of all, here is the appearance of the set box. On the side is a posed figure of Con Battler V. There are a total of four types in the set.

The design on the top is reminiscent of the toys of the time.

It is a "electromagnetic combined set". As expected of Bandai! Bandai!

Here are the individual boxes. The only difference is the description of the contents, but the overall design is the same.

1: Battle Jet & Battle Craft

This set contains two kits of battle machines, both of which are small in size.

The parts of the Battle Jet, which is responsible for the head, are concentrated with partially painted parts. This is fine!

In addition, stickers and gum are included, as well as assembly and combining instructions. You will notice that there are surprisingly few stickers.

2: Battle Crusher

There are twin lancers and wrist parts.

Other than that, assembly instructions, gum and stickers. Again, this is the only sticker!

3: Battle Tank

In addition to the main body, parts for a super-electromagnetic yo-yo are included.

The only sticker is the number "3"!

4: Battle Marine

Cylindrical leg parts are conspicuous.

As you can see, I feel that this Super Miniplat "Con Battler V" has particularly few stickers. That is how well the color separation is reproduced by dividing the parts.

Let's quickly complete each kit.

When you assemble all 1, you will find the main body of Battle Jet and Battlecraft. The head and ankle joints are completed. More details will come later.

Assemble 2 to complete the main body of Battlecrusher, 2 twin lancers and 6 wrists.

3 is completed with a small crawler and peripheral parts for use when merging with the Battle Tank, an arm for reproducing the deployment of the bucket, and a super-electromagnetic yo-yo and its electromagnetic effect parts.

4 completes the main body of the Battle Marine, the arm for transporting the Battle Tank, the hip joints for merging, and the landing gear for the Grandasher.

Let's take a closer look at each mecha that you may be interested in.

Battle Machine No. 1. Battle Jet, the high-speed fighter piloted by Leoma Aoi.

Except for the stickers on the vertical tail fin, the coloring is almost completely reproduced by dividing the parts.

The thrusters are also sculpted in detail.

You can see the fine details on the upper surface of the fuselage and the blue parts. This density is achieved in a size of only 4cm in length. It's amazing!

Although I don't remember seeing it in the anime, the landing gear on the underside of the fuselage is replaceable. It looks great when displayed in its separated state.

The thickness of the top and bottom is also reduced due to the fact that the deformation has been omitted, and this may be one of the coolest three-dimensional Battle Jet models.

Battle Machine No. 2. Battlecrusher, the heavy bomber that Juso Naniwa flies. The aircraft has a very distinctive horizontal shape and left and right blocks that transform into arms. The only sticker is the "2" on the main wing. The rest of the parts are perfectly colored by dividing the parts. If you think about it, it is a tailless aircraft.

The part where the wrist of the Con Battler V is stored is replaceable, and even during the Battlecrusher, it is blocked by a panel with details reminiscent of fingers or thrusters.

The thickness of the Battlecrusher is often an issue when it comes to sculpting them, but as you can see in the Super Mini-Pla version. The fuselage is thin and sharp.

The elbow of the Conbattler V has an intake-like detail to give it an aircraft-like appearance.

The fuselage is decorated with many original molds that did not exist in the anime setting, and it looks cool enough even in its separate mechanical state!

The double thruster blocks serve as locks between the left, right and center sections of the fuselage, making it easy to determine the shape of the fuselage.

The bottom of the fuselage has replaceable landing gear. The bottom of the fuselage is also decorated with original molding.

The arms can be deployed forward, just like in the play. The arms have double joints, which is different from the previous Con Battler V models.

Battle Machine No. 3. Daisaku Nishikawa's heavy tank, Battle Tank. The size of the crawler is different from the size of the anime design, and is arranged to be a reasonable size for a tank. In addition, the arm part connected to the crawler is reproduced by replacement. In a sense, this may be the most rearranged mecha of all. The only sticker is the letter "3" which can be seen from the front of the tank!

The antenna is also reproduced.

Although this is a non-scale model, a rough calculation based on the actual size of the tank shows that it is about 5 to 6 meters tall!

The lid is covered with a panel with details so that it can be viewed from the rear.

Movable arm parts are used to make the bucket extended.

The bucket can also be opened and closed, making it a stand-alone mecha that can be played with quite a bit.

Battle Machine No. 4. This is the battle marine that we, Chizuru Minamihara, will be flying. It has a distinctive twin-body silhouette. As its name suggests, it excels in undersea activities, as well as in the air. It was often used in support activities such as repairing battle machines and transporting battle tanks.
The only stickers are the vertical tail with "4" written on it and the red line in the middle of the fuselage.

As you can see, it is the most voluminous mecha among all the battle machines.

On the underside of the cockpit block is the deployable landing gear, which allows for a stable display.

Here is the gimmick of the landing gear.

The landing gear is a very important part of the aircraft's display. Without the landing gear, the plane would tilt forward.

Inside where the ankles fit, there is a panel molded just like a thruster.

And here are the two parts.

connected to these square holes on both sides of the fuselage.

Engage the pins of the panel with the square holes in the crawler of the battle tank, and then

If you insert them in between, you can get this form, which was often used in the play.

Battle Machine No. 5 is an all-purpose machine and battlecraft that KITAKO Kosuke rides. It can operate on land, sea, and air, as well as drill underground. It is a distinctive mecha with a compact silhouette, a retractable drill, and a total of 12 wheels. There are cockpits on both sides, and Kosuke is supposed to be riding on the right side, but in the opening scene, he was kicking the enemy with his right leg.
The only stickers on this model are the red line on the upper part of the fuselage and the number "5". The coloring is genius.

The thrusters are peeking out from the rear.

The main body, which is divided into left and right parts, is securely locked in place.

Although the arrangement is relatively modest, there are no gaps in detail.

Looking at the body from the bottom, all 12 wheels can be seen.

The drill is stowed by a slide operation on the bottom.

When the drill is stowed, it looks like this. This one looks more familiar.

And each fuselage has joint holes to accommodate the stand of the "Optional Parts Set" that we will introduce later.

For the Battle Jet, the part for attaching the landing gear

Battle Crusher has two holes for the stand

Battle Tank is in the round part removed from the center of the underside, or the joint for combining with the rear of the body

Battle Marine: inside the round parts removed from the knees

For Battle Craft, a commercially available stand can be inserted into each of the holes on the bottom surface. This allows you to reproduce flight.

So make full use of the stand.

and in fact, these are only reproduction photos of the combined scene, and the actual method of combining the two will be shown again later.

Why did I decide to take these photos? It is because ......

For some reason, this part of the Battle Jet assembly procedure is designed to be easy to remove. So, I tried to replace it with the head,

So I replaced it with the head and it stuck.

I also replaced the crawler with a smaller one and the hip joint of the battle marine with a new one before I knew it, and so on.

The detailed process of combining the two will be introduced in the second part of this article!
