An exhibition of original drawings of the popular manga "Drifters" by Kota Hirano will be held in Kagoshima, a city associated with Toyohisa Shimazu! Umeshu (plum wine) labeled by Toyohisa Shimazu will also be on sale!

Hamada Sake Brewing Group's Satsuma Kinzan Brewery Co. announced that it will hold an exhibition of original artwork from the popular manga "Drifters" from April 29 to June 14, 2020, to celebrate the company's 15th anniversary.

Drifters" is a popular manga by Kota Hirano serialized in Young King Hours (Shonen Gahosha), and a TV anime was broadcast from October to December 2016, gaining popularity. Set in an alternate world where elves and dwarves exist, the story follows the hero Toyohisa Shimazu, who is transferred to this world, and other heroes from the past and present, such as Nobunaga Oda, Scipio, and Hannibal.

The year 2020 marks the 450th anniversary of the entry of Iehisa Shimazu into the castle of Kushikino (present-day Ichiki-Kushikino City, Kagoshima Prefecture) and the birth of his son, Toyohisa, at the castle. The father and son are known for having laid the foundation of the Satsuma clan (present-day Kagoshima Prefecture), and are a symbol of the warring Shimadzu warrior class. The Satsuma Kanayama brewery, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, is also known for its Satsuma Kaiun Shrine, which is dedicated to Iehisa's elder brother, Shimazu Yoshihiro, one of the most fierce generals of the Warring States period. The exhibition will be held at the Satsuma Kinzan Brewery, which has such a connection with Iehisa.

In addition, to commemorate the exhibition, Satsuma Kinzan Brewery will release a plum wine with a label of Toyohisa Shimazu, the main character of the Drifters. The plum wine is made from Nanko-ume plums grown in Kagoshima Prefecture and infused with potato shochu, and features a rich, sweet flavor that can only come from long-term storage. Details on where it will be sold will be posted on the official Satsuma Kinzan Kura website as soon as they are finalized.
