New TV Anime "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni," Character Introductions Revealed! The first TV anime season (episodes 1-13) will be rebroadcast on TOKYO MX!

Character information from the new "Higurashi When They Cry" anime project has been released. In addition, it has been decided that episodes 1-13 of the first TV anime will be rerun as a selection broadcast.

Higurashi When They Cry" was first released as a doujin game in 2002, and its fascination with solving puzzles and its bizarre scenario spread by word-of-mouth, leading to its porting to consumer game consoles, comic book adaptation, anime adaptation, live-action film adaptation, stage adaptation, and various other media development. The game has also been ported to consumer video game consoles, adapted into a comic book, anime, live-action movie, and stage play.

As previously reported, a new project for "Higurashi When They Cry" has been launched.

In commemoration of the new TV anime broadcast of "Higurashi When They Cry" starting in July 2020, it has been decided to rerun episodes 1-13 of the first TV anime season "Higurashi When They Cry" (broadcast from April to September 2006) as a selection broadcast. The program will be aired on TOKYO MX from April 9 (Thu.), so be sure to check it out.

Character Introduction

Keiichi Maehara (CV: Soichiro Hoshi)

The main character of this work.
He recently moved to Hinamizawa from the city.
He lives with his father, who is a painter by profession, and his mother.
He is a curious and hot-blooded person, who apparently had excellent grades at school in the city, and is quick-witted.
He is a very articulate person and is known as a "magician of the mouth".

Rena Ryugu (CV: Mai Nakahara)

A classmate of Keiichi.
She is devoted to Keiichi and goes to school with him every morning, making her his closest friend.
She has an eye for "cool" things, and has a habit of "taking home" any item she finds.
Once Rena gets into the "cool" mode, the laws of physics don't apply to her, and she is unruly.

Enon Sonozaki (CV: Satsuki Yukino)
A senior student of Keiichi and Rena. She is the chairperson of her class. She sometimes acts and speaks like an old man, but she is well-liked by everyone around her because of her high-spirited, easy-going, and big-sisterly personality. She has an after-school routine that she calls "club activities," in which she and Keiichi play a variety of games and games with each other. She is a person who will stop at nothing to win, which makes those around her fearful of her.

Satoko Hojo (CV: Mika Kanai)

A junior student of Keiichi and Rena.
She speaks in a grammatically dubious young lady's tone.
She hates to lose and has a cocky side, but she is still very young and sometimes cries when Keiichi and Charmaine tease her. She is the best trapper in Hinamizawa, and her talent for trapping is so inexhaustible in the after-school "club activities" that even Chikane is afraid of her.

Rika Furute (CV: Yukari Tamura)

The only daughter of the Furute Shrine.
She lives in the same house as Satoko, who is in the same grade. She plays the role of a shrine maiden at the "Cotton Flushing Festival" held every June. She is a girl with a mysterious atmosphere who always puts those around her at ease with her kitten-like charm, but sometimes shows a calmness that does not match her age. She calls herself "Boku" and has a habit of saying "Mi~" and "Nipa~☆".
