Remake of the popular shooting game "Thunder Force III"! More information on "SEGA AGES Thunder Force AC" for Switch!

SEGA released detailed information on the upcoming shooting game "SEGA AGES Thunder Force AC" for Nintendo Switch.

SEGA AGES Thunder Force AC" is a remake of the popular Mega Drive shooting game "Thunder Force III" by the original staff. The game will be available soon as a download-only title for Nintendo Switch, with additional player aircraft and a lower difficulty mode. The price is 999 yen (tax included).

Details of each mode and each aircraft have been released and will be introduced in this issue.

Mode Details

Arcade Mode
Arcade Mode is the main mode of this title, a faithful port of the arcade version "Thunder Force AC". Based on the Mega Drive version "Thunder Force III," the graphics have been enhanced. The game balance has also been restructured, and some stages have been changed to new stages that are different from those in "Thunder Force III.

In addition, players can choose from a maximum of four types of aircraft based on their performance in the game, and if the version is set to "NEW" in the options settings, the performance of the aircraft will be upgraded to comply with the overseas version.

KIDS Mode
Kids Mode is a low difficulty mode for players who find Arcade Mode too difficult. The attack power of the player's aircraft is increased, and they do not lose their weapons when they make a mistake.

■Ranking
The "Ranking" function allows players to compete in two types of rankings for each of the four aircraft: the "Expert" ranking when played with the default arcade mode settings (version OLD, difficulty level NORMAL, number of players 3, etc.) and the "Freestyle" ranking when the settings are changed.

Aircraft Details

The aircraft in this title can be selected on the menu and are linked in Arcade and Kids modes. Whichever mode the aircraft appears in, it can be used in both modes. For details of each aircraft, please refer to the following.

FIRE LEO-03 STYX
A high-mobility fighter developed by the Galactic Federation with all of its resources, the STYX is small but has firepower comparable to that of a large battleship. The player can only select this aircraft at the start of game play, and can equip it with five types of weapons: TWIN SHOT (SEVER), BACK FIRE (LANCER), WAVE, FIRE, and HUNTER, as well as CLAW and SHIELD.

FIRE LEO-03MP STYX Mass Product
The STYX Mass Product that appears in "Thunder Force IV," which takes place two years after "Thunder Force AC (III). The backfire when changing speeds has been enhanced, and using this to attack can earn a higher score. With additional button settings, a "ROLL" attack is also possible when equipped with CLAW.

The main character in "Thunder Force IV" and the next mainstay of the super high-performance small fighter, the RYNEX can be equipped with five types of weapons: TWIN SHOT (BLADE), BACK SHOT (RAIL GUN), SNAKE, FREE WAY, and HUNTER, as well as CLAW and SHIELD.

FIRE LEO-04 RYNEX (equipped with Thunder Sword)
The RYNEX, which appears in the second half of the "Thunder Force IV" storyline, is equipped with the most powerful weapon of all, the THUNDER SWORD, which can be launched by equipping the RYNEX with the THUNDER CLAW.

Other Elements

Other elements unique to SEGA AGES include the ability to save and replay replays, as well as view the replays of advanced players from the rankings.

In addition, the sound has been made stereo (some parts remain mono), and an "HD vibration" function has been added to match the play situation. The screen can be changed to "Vintage," which gives the game a CRT-style screen, or to "Cabinet," which provides a game arcade atmosphere.
