SQUARE ENIX announced that "FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE" for PlayStation 4, which was released simultaneously worldwide on April 10, 2020 (Friday), has sold more than 1 million units (total of initial package shipment and download sales) in Japan and more than 3.5 million units worldwide within 3 days of its release. The company announced that sales of "FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE" (the sum of initial package shipments and download sales) exceeded 1 million units in Japan and 3.5 million units worldwide in the first three days after release.

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE" is a remake of the original "FINAL FANTASY VII" released on PlayStation in 1997, and is the first title in a three-part series. The game features an epic story, fascinating characters, and graphics that captivated many with its state-of-the-art technology of the time, all remastered in HD.
