Teaser visual and special trailer for the theatrical version of "Sailor Moon Eternal" (Part 1) to be released on September 11! New cast: Sadajo Matsuoka

A teaser visual and a special trailer have been released for "Sailor Moon Eternal" (Part 1), the latest film in the "Sailor Moon" series, scheduled for release on September 11, 2020. It was also announced that Sadacheng Matsuoka will play the role of Elyos, an important character in the film.

Naoko Takeuchi's "Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon" was serialized in the girls' manga magazine "Nakayoshi" (Kodansha) from 1991 to 1997. The cute and pop visuals and the story of love and justice in which girls are guided by destiny to transform themselves into gorgeous characters and fight have been overwhelmingly popular since the serialization began, and the total number of copies sold has exceeded 20 million.

In 1992, the TV anime series began broadcasting, and even after its broadcast ended in 1997, it continued to be broadcast not only in Japan but also in more than 40 countries, making it a work that is still loved around the world.

In 2012, a project was launched to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the series, and in 2014, a new anime series, " Sailor Moon Crystal, " was released.

■Teaser Visual Revealed!
The story begins when Pegasus (= Elyos) suddenly appears to Usagi Tsukino and Chibiusa on the day of the largest total solar eclipse of the century and asks Usagi and her friends for help. The story depicts the tender love between Chibiusa and Elios and the growth of the Sailor Soldiers, and vividly brings back to the screen the "never-give-up spirit", "the strength to believe in and protect one's friends", and "the thrill of love".

The teaser visual released this time depicts a large image of Super Sailor Moon illuminated by the light of the moon against a mysterious cosmic background. Sailor Moon's eyes show her determination to face her destiny as a warrior guided by the light of the moon.

Special feature film released!
In the special feature film, the opening image of the 90's TV animation series plays at the beginning, followed by the impressive sound of the bell of "Moonlight Legend" that seems to evoke memories of those days. Then, the scene of the encounter between Usagi, Chibiusa, and Pegasus (Elyos) is shown.

It was also announced that the role of Pegasus Elyos, who holds the key to the story, will be played by Teijo Matsuoka, who has appeared in many popular anime such as "Sword Art Online" as Kirito, "Demon Slayer" as Inosuke Sukidaira, and "Shokugeki no Soma" as Soma Kohei.

When I heard that I was going to be a part of Sailor Moon, which I have known since I was a little girl, I was surprised and at the same time moved by the news and had flashbacks to the past. To sum it up in one word, I was very happy!
The character I play, Elios, looks like a fragile piece of glass that could be broken if touched, but he is a character with firm convictions. When I was going through the recording, I was reading about the life that Elyos lived and the world of Sailor Moon, and immediately I heard a command from Matsuoka's head: "Teijo, you can go for this. I was given the usual "oracle" that said, "If you're going to act naturally, let's go with it," so I did my best to play the role with no pressure.
I did not make any compromises and gave it my all as usual, so I hope you will enjoy the story this time.
