Interview with Kotori Koiwai has arrived! Talks about how she feels now that her 1st photo book "Earphone/Headphone Kotori Zukan" has been released!

Voice actress Kotori Koiwai's first photo book "Kotori Koiwai 1st Photo Book "Earphone/Headphone Kotori Zukan"" was released on April 30, 2020. An official interview with Kotori Koiwai has just arrived.

She has played the role of Renge Miyauchi in "Carefree" and Tomohana Tenkuuhashi in "THE iDOLM@STER Million Live! She is also active as a member of the heavy metal band "Dual Alter World," and has recently been active in the audio field as well, utilizing her knowledge and experience in DTM, as well as her first grade MIDI certification. She has released her first photo book, "Kotori Koiwai 1st Photo Book: Earphone/Headphone Kotori Zukan".

This book was self-produced from concept to photography. The book contains many images of Kotori wearing her own earphones and headphones, and the contents show Kotori Koiwai as she is, from her bare skin to the way she changes clothes.

In addition, Kotori is a self-proclaimed audiophile, and Owltec, one of Japan's leading digital accessory manufacturers, recently collaborated with her to crowdfund the KPro01, a completely wireless earphone. The project eventually attracted a great deal of attention when it surpassed 166 million yen in total support purchases from 10,003 supporters.

An interview with Kotori Koiwai has now arrived to commemorate the release of her 1st photo book. She talked about how she feels now that the photo book has been released, her recommendations, and even "KPro01".

Interview with Kotori Koiwai on the occasion of the release of her 1st photo book

─ How do you feel now that the book has been released?

It is my first photo book and I think it is a masterpiece. At the moment (laughs).
And since I spent more than a year shooting it, I am very emotional to be able to show it to you all.

─ ─ Please tell us about the concept of your photo book.

I love the cool, stylish earphones and headphones you see in catalogs, but I wanted to have a photo collection of casual, everyday earphones and headphones.

I think it's nice to look sharp in the photos for promotional materials or in gravure photos for magazines, but I wanted to show you a natural image of myself with earphones/headphones.

Another concept is to "present Kotori Koiwai in 1000000% concentration.
I did almost everything by myself as much as possible.

I did not ask a professional photographer to take pictures, but used my own α6500 camera.

I am grateful to Ichijinsha for their willingness to allow me to take the photos and deliver them to the client, an unusual format.

─ ─ What exactly will we be able to see in the photos and in what situations?

It is a photo book with a story, and everyone who reads it lives with me.
The story begins with you in your room, with no makeup, waking up from sleep.

After that, you are drawn into the world of the photos that you see on TV, where you can feel the four seasons, such as cherry blossoms and the sea, as if you were on a trip.
There are pictures of people diving underwater and snow, too.

Then I come back to my room again, this time to see Kotori Koiwai in a magazine.
I end up getting ready to go out.
The photo of her getting dressed is my favorite, because I don't usually show her like that.
I hope you enjoy it.

Personally, I liked "glasses + headphones" and "kimono + wireless earphones.

─ ─ What are some of the points you particularly care about or recommend?

Anyway, I packed in a lot of "scenes that are not usually shown".
The scene of her changing clothes, getting wet and soaking wet, and so on.

I also packed a lot of my fetishism into the film.
I ate a lot of food to make my thighs plump for the shoot! (Laughs)

Also, I like to see girls with no makeup, so there is a lot of makeup.
In fact, the cover is also a full face. You can see even the space between her eyelashes.

I recommend it because you can even see her pores in some of the shots, which is interesting because you don't usually get to see them (laughs).

─ I heard that you did not use a professional photographer.

I decided on the general composition and asked the makeup artist, manager, and other staff members who were present at the time to take over for me.
If I couldn't set up a stand, I would first take a cute picture of the staff member and then ask them to do it this way, so there was actually a photogravure of them (laughs).

(Laughs) I wanted to have as many patterns of outfits, earphones, and headphones as possible, and I wanted to send you the four seasons, so I took this form so that I could shoot even on very short notice, before or after events, etc.
There are more than 30 patterns in the book, which I think is quite a lot for a photo book of this page.

The fact that I took these photos with a group of amateurs means that anyone can potentially take up to this many photos with the α6500.
I would be happy if people who are interested in cameras could use this as a reference as well.

───What are your honest impressions of the crowdfunding for the "KPro01" that ultimately exceeded 166 million yen?

KPro01" is an earphone that can be either wired or completely wireless, but just like the photo book, this is something I am involved in the development of because I want it.

I thought there would be at least a small demand for people who play sound games and watch videos. I had thought that there might be a little demand from people who play music games and watch videos, but I was also told that we might not even reach 3 million yen... so I am surprised that we have received such a strong response.

Earphones made together with over 10,000 people...it's a wonderful dream, isn't it?
We will continue to work hard on the development. The prototype of "KPro01" is actually included in the photo book.
