TV anime "Shinkage no Kyojin" The Final Season unveils new visuals and PV! MAPPA will be in charge of the animation production. A movie version of the TV version will also be released.

A new visual and PV of the TV anime "Shinkage no Kyojin" The Final Season, scheduled to air on NHK Sogo, was unveiled today, May 29, 2020. It was also announced that MAPPA will be in charge of the animation production of this work instead of WIT STUDIO, and that it will be produced by a new staff led by director Yuichiro Hayashi.

Based on the manga of the same title serialized in "Bessatsu Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha) by Hajime Isayama, "Shinkage no Kyojin" aired its first TV anime season in 2013, followed by Season 2 in 2017, Season 3 in 2018, and Season 3 Part 2 in 2019. Season 2 aired in 2017, Season 3 aired in 2018, and Season 3 Part 2 aired in 2019. The final season of the series is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2020.

The series has been serialized for over 10 years, and I have been with it for quite a long time. I would like to thank Director Araki, WIT STUDIO, and all the members of the drawing corps for the many memories that make me so happy I could die! I would like to continue working with Director Hayashi and everyone at MAPPA to take over the "Shinkage no Kyojin" anime and create more wonderful memories!

Yuichiro Hayashi (The Final Season Director) comment
I am pleased to announce that I will be taking over as director for the final season. I am very excited to be a part of this project from the middle, and it is such a big original work.
With the full cooperation of Mr. WIT and Director Araki, we have been preparing for this project. In addition, prior to the broadcast of The Final Season, it has been decided that "The Chronicle of 'Shigeki no Kyojin'" will be released in theaters for a limited time from July 17, 2020, as a film adaptation of Seasons 1 through 3 (59 episodes) of the TV anime series.

This film is an introduction to the story of "Shinkageki no Kyojin" that follows the trajectory of the story up to the present, and is a must-see for those who want to prepare and review before the broadcast of The Final Season.
