To commemorate the 50th anniversary of "BEM the Monster Human," a completely new TV anime "BEM" will be made into a movie, which will be broadcast in 2019. The title is "BEM the Movie: BECOME HUMAN" and will be released nationwide in the fall of 2020.
The first TV animation "BEM" was aired in 1968 and left an overwhelming impact with its dark and mysterious worldview and unique characters. The main character is a humanoid monster who is never accepted because he is ugly even if he tries to do the right thing and longs to "quickly become human." The series is a milestone in the bizarre anime genre, recording a top rating of over 20%.
The completely new TV anime "BEM," which aired in 2019, retained the setting and message of the original work, but gave it a completely new interpretation, boldly changing the setting and characters and gaining popularity.
Production I.G, which has been involved in the "BEM" project since its inception and has created high quality animation such as the "Ghost in the Shell" and "PSYCHO-PASS: Psycho-Pass" series, will be in charge of the production of "BEM the Movie: BECOME HUMAN," which has now been made into a movie. The main staff has also been completely renewed. The director is Hiroshi Ikehata ("Mahoujin Guruguru," "Space Battleship Tiramisu," etc.), the script is by Atsuhiro Tomioka ("Pokemon," "One Piece Stampede," etc.), the original character design is by Renji Murata ("Last Exile," "ID-0," etc.), the character design by Mino Matsumoto (PURE MARIA, SHIN-GAKU, Giant Junior High School, etc.)! The main cast will continue from the TV anime "BEM," with Katsuyuki Konishi as Bem, M.A.O. as Bella, and Kensho Ono as Bello. Additional cast members will be announced at a later date.
In conjunction with this announcement, a teaser poster and special video were also released. The teaser poster, based on red and black colors, depicts a silhouette of a person who appears to be Bem with his face hidden, with black shadows stretching in all directions from his feet, suggesting a yokai form, and expressing the anguish of a human yokai. The special trailer depicts the crimson cells swarming with Chopin's "24 Preludes No. 4" playing as background music, and the birth of three "Bem, Bella, and Bello" youkai humans, who could not become human. The film ends with the sad whisper of "I want to be human as soon as possible" from the yokai humans who could not become human.

<Story>
In Libra City, a city where splendor and decadence, prosperity and poverty coexist across a canal.
Sonia, a young female detective, meets three people called "Bem Bella Bello" as she pursues a series of mysterious incidents that occur in the city.
They transform into hideous figures, and are soon named "Youkai Humans" and hunted as suspects in the cases, but they are the ones who solve the cases and help people.
All in order to fulfill their wish to become human.
After discovering that the "Invisible Council," which controls Libra City behind the scenes, is the mastermind behind the incident, Bem and his friends confront another yokai human, M. Bison, who is the ringleader of the council. After a fierce battle that destroyed the bridge connecting the canals, Bem and his team disappeared.
Two years have passed since then. Sonia, who had been searching for Bem, visited a pharmaceutical company called "Draco Chemical" based on a sighting. There, she meets "Bellum Eisberg," a man who bears a striking resemblance to Bem. ......
