Easy processing improves the quality! I made a plastic model "Figure-rise Standard Asuna"! YU-GO's Character Modeling LABO Vol.1

YU-GO's Character Modeling LABO" started from this issue. This series of articles will be developed based on the concept of "having fun while making various character kits," regardless of genre, and we look forward to your continued support!

In this memorable first installment of the series, we will be building Asuna, the heroine of "SWORD ART ONLINE"!

The kit used is the "Figure-rise Standard Asuna" from BANDAI SPIRITS.

Let's open the box right away!

The kit has a two-layered construction, with reddish parts fitted inside the thigh parts, which gives the skin a natural texture.

The kit is faithfully modeled after the style in episode 7, "The Temperature of the Heart," and the dignified cuteness of the deputy commander of the Knights of the Blood League is beautifully expressed.

The figure is enjoyable enough as it is, but we would like to add a twist to make it look even better as a three-dimensional object.

The skirt and cloth parts are too thick, so we will scrape off the edges to give it a cloth-like appearance.

I used a "carbide scraper" (Fantec), "awesome! tool" (FANTEC) and "Kisage Cutter" (Doyu). Kisage Cutter" (Doyusha), and "Kami Yasu" 400-600 (God Hand), depending on the location.

The cloth part is also processed as thin as possible. This gives a very different impression.

For hair, file patiently to remove burrs and parting lines, while trying to get a clean line. Some parts are molded with a soft new material, so be careful not to break the fine details.

The sword "Lambent Light" that Liz forged for us also needs a twist.

So this time, we changed the crystal part to 2.0mm of WAVE- H. Eyes [3] Mini.

It is a small part, but it adds a nice accent.

One point of advice is to cut the pins of the four face parts a little shorter, so it will be easier to change the face.

For the skin, use "Mr. Topcoat Water-based Premium Topcoat Matte" (GSI Creos). I recommend spraying it on a little thicker to get a nice moist texture.

The pedestal of the Figure-rise Effect was painted in deep clear red, as if the battle against The Skull Reaper in the 13th episode "The Abyss of the Abyss".

Completed! The costume of the main body was sprayed with Bismuth Pearl and MG Pearl from Unmodo Honpo, changing the color in different places to create a mysterious texture.

The pearls change their appearance depending on the angle, creating an interesting effect.

The back view is also dignified.

The miffed face is also attractive☆.

Asuna and Kirito have fond memories of the "grassy knoll," so we created the base using 100-yen materials. We recommend this because it is easy to do.

As a charm point, we also reproduced their wedding rings, the proof of their bond.

I made it by processing a 2mm aluminum pipe.

The expression also changes to a fighting state! The dynamic action is perfect!

The point I wanted to make the most in this example

It's "The Heart of Yui"!

It was an impressive episode, and I'm sure many fans still remember it in their hearts.

I hope this example conveys the "feelings" of Asuna and Kirito toward Yui.

The paint used for detail painting was "Gundam Marker EX Shine Silver" (GSI Creos). Since it is alcohol-based, it was convenient because it could be removed with a toothpick or the like when the paint was removed.

Gundam Real Touch Marker Yellow" was used for the hair shadow, and "Hyakushiki Gold" for the gold parts.

Lambent Light sword blade is "Premium Mirror Chrome" (Gaianotes).

The natural makeup of the face is pastel pink. The result was just as I imagined.

How did you like it?

This example is how I got to know "Sword Art Online," and before I knew it, I was completely hooked by its unique worldview and deep storyline.

I was told that this example was to be done at ...... with a very simple line, but I think it turned out to be a lot of fun, making use of the molding colors and processing to make the most of the points.
